So, are you saying A. Alan Moghissi, Ph.D., a charter member of the EPA is not qualified in your judgment?

WOW! And I disagree with that. We really do have a lot in common.

Fuck, I've got a Master's Degree that requires interdisciplinary thinking. Does that make me qualified to pass judgment on the theory?
I have no idea. Does your Master's require competence in chemistry, fluid dynamics, quantum theory, geology, principles of practical engineering as well as a whole bunch of other stuff?

Then again Michael Mann is qualified as a paleoclimatologist, but that did not stop him from getting his math wrong or corrupting his research.

Re: A list of those who do not accept the AGW dogma.

Does a climatologist have a good understanding of oil extraction?

Why or why not?

That is a meaningless and pointless question.

We are not talking about an individual who is only a research scientists without broad knowledge and experience in environmental regulations and the problem the EPA and policy makers have had of acquiring good unbiased scientific information regarding the environment. Did you even read the pdf I linked?

Well, you've made up your mind, so it's really not worth trying to discuss, is it?

That's the usual dismissive response of the closed-minded. Project one's own state of mind on to others and claim or imply they are the one's who are closed-minded.

The truth is I changed my mind. At one time I bought into nearly all of the extreme environmentalists myths and did buy into the idea of man-made global warming. Then after being challenged to back up my beliefs with something more than environmentalist rhetoric and talking points I start to do a little research of my own. That little bit of research led to much more, since what I was finding conflicted with beliefs I had held for decades I sought for something that would support my core beliefs.

I ended up with a choice -- either ignore this new information and continue clinging to a mythic system that had no foundation in reality and the sciences or drop those old myths and begin to base my environmental beliefs and understanding on science and humanity's real relationship with nature.

Yes, clearly I'm closed-minded, because I don't recognize your list of "scientists" to be authoritative.

You named two scientists who you believed lacked the credentials to judge with authority the theory of AGW. I gave specific reasons why I believe they do have the credentials. Rather than give reasons of your own you asked silly pointless questions.

Then you finished with the claim that I have made up my mind, and since you were not specific I assumed you meant the scientists we wrote about and about AGW in general. I corrected your assumption, telling you that at one time I believed as you do (about AGW, AGW deniers, and other environmentalists myths).

Someone with a closed-mind is unlikely to have changed their mind on or about core beliefs, in the past or in the future. I have changed my mind on core fundamental beliefs. Have you?

So, who is closed-minded?

tashi deleks,

Uhh, I think "Tashi Daleks" means closed-minded.

Actually tashi deleks (or tashi delegs, I've seen spelled both ways) means "may good things arise." Its Tibetan.

Re: A list of those who do not accept the AGW dogma.

The real irony is that the opening list if *complete* constitutes direct proof of a consensus in favor of global warming, and if *not complete* is meaningless. I tend towards the incomplete statement. Disregarding the exact credentials of people on the list, they constitute less than 0.01% of the eligible people who have similar credentials

Nothing like being a member of the herd. That group feeling is oh so warm and fuzzy and safe.

Actually I'd say the really real irony is that there has been no warming since 1998 and the global trend, since last year is now one of cooling, according to the Hadley Center, US National Climatic Data Center and the University of Alabama at Huntsville -- not one of those scientists listed above.

Einstein was only a patent clerk, and never won the Nobel Prize for Physics. Many disregarded his credentials.

Ah yes, the old "if you don't follow my dogma, you're a sheep" argument.

Tedious.

What about the evidence? As I said, "there has been no warming since 1998 and the global trend, since last year is now one of cooling, according to the Hadley Center, US National Climatic Data Center and the University of Alabama at Huntsville -- not one of those scientists listed above."

Don't change the subject.

I'm not arguing one way or the other on AGW or related theories.

If you neither believe in or not about AGW or other related theories what's it to you the credentials or noncredentials of those who study AGW or other related theories?

So we disagree. We have something in common than. What's the point of going further?
