Beijing’s air best in decade

Beijing has recorded 260 days of blue sky this year, 41 days ahead of schedule to reach the goal of “days with grade II air quality or better 71% of total” in 2009, Xinhua reported on Friday. An official with the city’s environment protection bureau said Beijing’s air quality had been inproving for the past 11 years, and air quality in Beijing this year has been at the best level in a decade.
Compared decade ago, great changes have taken place in Beijing including the environment. Many people may still remember the saying decades ago: “It is not easy to foget the culture and people in Beijing but can not stand the environment in Beijing”. The travelers praised the Beijing’s culture and the years of history, but they felt disappointed when seeing the bad environment. But that has changed a lot since decade ago, the government has done a lot to change it. Especially before the 29th Olympic games, the city changed much to improve the envgironment. Now Beijing has changed into a very beautiful place to live or to travel to.

Didn't they just give themselves a whole bunch of snow?

The climate is becoming worse, but who should be responsible for it? It is a global problem, which country gives off the most harmful gas? developing countries or developed countries?

Yes, Yes they did.

According to media reports, Chinese meteorologists seeded clouds to bring winter weather to Beijing in an effort to combat a lingering drought. The move coincided with a cold front, however, producing a heavy snowfall instead of rain.

You gotta love logical, coherent argumentation like that.

I'm sure you got some study of american war plane's carbon emissions handy or are you just making stuff up?

I won't hold my breath for any link or anything. Now, continue spewing your assumptions out there.

I'm still waiting for a link, a report, some independent facts, that show that America, when you take into account combat air planes, produce more CO2 than China?

Just let me know when you got the data.

Great job using photoshop!

If that is the Kunlun Hotel in the first pic, I'm impressed with your skills. Downtown Beijing looks NOTHING like that! LMAO

But on the INSIDE the Kunlun is FABULOUS!

Re: Beijing’s air best in decade

sounds like B.S. to me, certainly so when considering the following.

"Hazy conditions disrupt air travel in China(AFP) – Nov 24, 2009
BEIJING — Poor visibility delayed about 280 domestic and international flights serving Beijing on Wednesday, the capital's airport said, following several days of heavy air pollution."

Don't get me wrong. I had a great time in China. But the air there is a cesspit. WE are not the biggest polluters on earth! Not by far. But because no one in this country travels we accept the guilt trip the rest of the world lays on us.

The air in Beijing could be the cleanest in 10 years and still be too nasty to breathe. And the way the Chinese government does things they would forbid people to have heat, air, or cook the whole time the games are there to make it LOOK like they had cleaned up their act.

I was replying to OP, sorry, but thanks for further clarity on the Chinese government attempt at a smokescreen.
