Europeans disspaointed about Obamas climate policy

US president Obama unveiled a plan to cut US greenhouse emission by about 17 % until 2020 ( and it is far from clear that he will get this approved in congress), much less than Europe and the United Nations had been hoping and calling for ahead of the upcoming climate summit in Copenhagen/ Denmark :

Yep, Cap n' Tax would likely plunge this country into a full blown depression. But that's really the plan, right? Wreck the country, and then rebuild the new socialist utopia from the ashes?

What would B.O. be doing differently if that weren't the plan?

Re: Europeans disspaointed about Obamas climate policy

China promised to cut coČ emissions by 40% in 2020, but in relation to their GDP... In theory a cut, in practise emissions will keep growing...
After all, their emissions per capita remain rather low.

Anyway, I'm glad BHO comes to Copenhagen and has set up a goal. That's a good start.

All in all, given the political situation in America I'm somewhat ok with this target. I just hope that the relatively low ambition of America doesn't lower Europe's ambition. The world needs good examples. I'm quite happy with China's ambitions.

Its a start at least, but theres a long way to go before we really start to tackle climate change...

I'm about as interested in Europes disappointment with President Obama as they are with my disappointment with Europe. But, on the bright side, President Obama will probably make them feel better by apologizing for our invasion of Europe in WWII.

Why would Obama care what Europeans think.

You needn't worry. Europe isn't going to meet any of their goals either. Everyone's carbon emmissions will increase which is meaningless because AGW is a myth anyway.

I'm sure he does care what Americans think seeing as I'm sure he'd quite like to be elected again.

The unmasked rape of the American economy will have to wait for the Dems lame duck session this time next year.
