What can we learn from the Blizzards hitting Xinjiang and US

Blizzards hit Aletai in the northern part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, affecting 75800 local residents and inflicting direct economic losses of RMB 41.14m, xinhua reported. The heavy snow also damaged 2326 houses and led to the collapse of 23. 1221 head of livstock died and 439000 were affected by lack of forage. The snow caused some highway blockage.
Also it was reported that a snow storm hit the US Midwest Wedensday, causing at least 112 deaths, mostly from traffic accidents.
We don’t know if these disasters occurred just because of the climate changing, but what can we learn about it? The Global Climate Change Conference is holding in Copenhagen Denmark, both the developing and developed countried criticized each other, both sides wish the other part should be more responsibe to the emission reduction targets. But in fact, it is true that the developed countries should be more responsible for the changing of the climate, they should stop criticizing the other countries and begin to take measures to reduce emissions. China has done a lot in promising its emission of 40-45%, which is a good example.

Individual examples (the blizzards) are no proof for general paterns (global warming).

I seem to recall China was to be up to some shenanigans to cause precititation. they got it it would seem. and the darn global warming made it snow instead of rain.

Increased energy in the system means more energetic storms, and higher extremes on both sides. It doesn't mean that everything just gets warmer all the time.

30-40 footers; it's insane!

I showed my wife a picture of the surf down there and told here I wanted to go.

She said "I love you, and I let you do what you want. But, no."

I do some surfing here in SoCal, but I wouldn't venture out onto the North Shore in winter...

So where were all the hurricanes? There were 3 in the 2009 season. You did say there would be more extreme storms on both sides but we aren't seeing any such thing.

I've been afraid surfing 15 ft waves. I can't imagine going on a 50 ft wave. Those are monsters.

I've been to Mavericks many times for the surf competition there. Those guys are nuts.

Never mind that there is going to be seasonal variation.

It seems to be a very common conservative trait to not be able to see or think on the large scale.
