Ivar Giaever made a considerable contributation to science as he got the Nobel Price for his work. I can also understand his criticism of the term ""the evidence is incontrovertible." This also sounds for me too much like a dogma, but these are simple matters of appropriate wording, not about the subject at heart.
What I am not quite sure is in how far a solid state physicist is empowered and capable of challenging the current consensus of those who are specialized in the according disciplines.
