I don't think any conclusions can be drawn from this regarding the administration, but it is an interesting coincidence. It would be interesting to find out what his positions and comments were during the task force meetings.
Stop bowing, stop apologizing
Examiner Editorial
November 18, 2009

President Obama's bow to Japan's Emperor Akihito was deeply insulting to the American people he was elected to represent. Sadly, it came as no surprise: For the past nine months, Obama has traveled around the world apologizing for America's alleged multitude of past sins and errors. These mea culpas have been delivered to nations ruled by corrupt authoritarians (Egypt), terrorist-supporting monarchs (Saudi Arabia) and virulently anti-Semitic despots (Iran), among so many others. He has even apologized to countries in Europe that might not exist in anything remotely like their current form were it not for the repeated shedding of American blood on their soil.

So seeing Obama obsequiously bowing and scraping to the head of state of the nation that launched the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor doesn't exactly come as a shock. But it is no less egregious for not being unexpected.

It simply ought not be necessary to instruct an American chief executive -- even one so inexperienced in foreign affairs as Obama was when he took the oath of office -- that we do not bow to foreign monarchs. We declared our independence from a monarch. As Thomas Paine put it, "in America, the law is king." And the law is made by representatives chosen by the true sovereign, the people. A bow is far more than a diplomatic expression of respect; it is a sign of submission and acceptance of the authority of the monarch. For an American president to make such a gesture rightfully has sparked outrage across the country.

Recognizing that Obama's bow was inappropriate, most of the Japanese news media used images of the president's more formal nod to the Empress. Japan has depended upon the U.S. nuclear umbrella for decades and has looked to this nation for strong, steady leadership in a dangerous world. As a result, the Japanese have been able to redirect precious resources that would otherwise have gone to its defense against threats from the Soviet Union, North Korea and China toward the pursuit of peace and economic stability. They understand -- apparently better than some of our own leaders here at home -- that a weakened America creates immense problems for them.

So stop the bowing and apologizing, Mr. President. We elected you to stand up for us, not to make apologies for us or to demean the accomplishments and sacrifices of our ancestors.

Obama arrived on the base 3:19 p.m. local time (1 a.m. Eastern Standard Time), and received a rousing welcome from 1,500 troops in camouflage uniforms, many holding cameras or pointing cell phones to snap pictures.

"You guys make a pretty good photo op," the president said.

Standing on a riser wearing a blue suit and red tie, with a cluster of troops and a large American flag behind him, Obama expressed "the gratitude of the American public" and said his meetings in four countries over eight days in Asia will help deliver a "safer more prosperous world for all of us."

He got a huge cheer when he told them he was increasing military pay. "That's what you call an applause line," he said, before boarding his jet and taking off at 4:11 p.m.

White House aides: No Afghan decision before Thanksgiving

Ok, my main question... raising pay? how many serve in teh military today? if you raise their pay say just 100.00 a month how much more spending is that?

He cannot make a promise like that and then BREAK IT.... he just cant, not to the military...

I dont see a direct quote, but if he say "I am trying to rasie your pay" that may work, as eh can say I TRIED, but by saying he is giving them a raise ... its just assinine.

Just to be sure everyone understand, I THINK THE MEN AND WOMEN OF OUR ILITARY DESERVE MORE MONEY, but just not RIGHT NOW, when we have over 12 trillion in debt...most of it added over the last 7 years.

Representative Brown-Waite from Florida just disclosed that it cost 18 MILLION DOLLARS to update the Recovery.Gov website to track the stimulus money spent--& she found out that another company would have done it for 600 thousand.

She was on Greta Van Sustren--FOX news describing 5 jobs that cost 3 million dollars. She is very upset about the government waste & is asking where are the jobs in these congressional districts that do not even exist.

I will try & find a link--just heard it.

Here is an article:

WASHINGTON -- Bugs in a website meant to track stimulus funding prompted U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Brooksville, to file a complaint today with recovery.gov about the website itself.

As reported this week, the website lists projects in congressional districts that don't exist and until recently overestimated the number of jobs created by the $787 billion stimulus package. Readers are encouraged to report waste, fraud and abuse to the website.

“At a time when so many Americans are out of work and our nation’s debt has exploded, that the Administration would spend so much money on what now turns out to be propaganda is quite frankly appalling,” said Brown-Waite in a statement.

The administration of President Barack Obama has found transparency to be a double-edged sword, as the White House has been criticized for not providing accurate figures.

Vice President Joe Biden recently attributed the errors to bad bookkeeping and said the administration was working to fix the problem.

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/new...overygov-.html

BTW--sorry about the title--Brown-Waite is a Republican.

When Zabel and Williams released a video on the Internet expressing their concerns over the Obama administration’s plans to use a cap and trade program to fight climate change, they were told to keep it to themselves.

Laurie Williams and husband Alan Zabel worked as lawyers for the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, in its San Francisco office for more than 20 years, and they know more about climate change than most politicians. But when the couple released a video on the Internet expressing their concerns over the Obama administration’s plans to use cap-and-trade legislation to fight climate change, they were told to keep it to themselves.

Williams and Zabel oppose cap and trade -- a controversial government allowance program in which companies are issued emissions limits, or caps, which they can then trade -- as a means to fight climate change.

On their own time, Williams and Zabel made a video expressing these opinions.

UC Irvine Study finds that the participants in its study, overall being "politically left of center", were swayed away from Obama Care due to racial prejudices.

The study further finds those same liberals favored Obama Care when they were told it was called, "Clinton's Plan", and had been conceived by Bill Clinton rather than by Obama and the Democrats.

It was unclear whether or not those liberals knew that Bill Clinton, himself, was a Democrat. The only other finding I see, aside from the study's find of liberal racial bias, was that it appeared to show the liberals to not be all that bright.

I mean, seriously HOW CAN YOU WANT THESE FOOLS RUNNING HEALTHCARE???

Seriouly.. how?

Here's a stimulus success story: In Arizona's 15th congressional district, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. At least that's what the Web site set up by the Obama administration to track the $787 billion stimulus says.

There's one problem, though: There is no 15th congressional district in Arizona; the state has only eight districts.

Jobs Saved or Created in Congressional Districts That Don't Exist - ABC News

..........

The reporting problems are not limited to Arizona, ABC News found.

In Oklahoma, recovery.gov lists more than $19 million in spending -- and 15 jobs created -- in yet more congressional districts that don't exist.

In Iowa, it shows $10.6 million spent – and 39 jobs created -- in nonexistent districts.

In Connecticut's 42nd district (which also does not exist), the Web site claims 25 jobs created with zero stimulus dollars.

The list of spending and job creation in fictional congressional districts extends to U.S. territories as well.

$68.3 million spent and 72.2 million spent in the 1st congressional district of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

$8.4 million spent and 40.3 jobs created in the 99th congressional district of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

$1.5 million spent and .3 jobs created in the 69th district and $35 million for 142 jobs in the 99th district of the Northern Mariana Islands.

$47.7 million spent and 291 jobs created in Puerto Rico's 99th congressional district.

John Berry, President Obama's director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), has issued a new directive that is clearly designed to weed out any Bush administration political appointees who "careered-into" the civil service.

The directive also effectively establishes a partisan political factor in hiring for career civil service positions in the federal bureaucracy. Berry's agency oversees the federal government's 1.9 million career civil servants.

The OPM was created during the Carter administration to replace the old Civil Service Commission, which was once headed by Teddy Roosevelt in his pre-White House days. The career service was intended to end the spoils system in which federal jobs were used by presidents to reward supporters.

In double-speak language that would make a Soviet apparatchik blush, Berry justifies his directive as merely an attempt to prevent political interference of the career civil service:

"Beginning January 1, 2010, agencies must seek prior approval from OPM before they can appoint a current or recent political appointee to a competitive or non-political excepted service position at any level under the provisions of title 5, United States Code.

"OPM will review these proposed appointments to ensure they comply with merit system principles and applicable civil service laws. I have delegated decisionmaking authority over these matters to career Senior Executives at OPM to avoid any hint of political influence."
White House Communications Director Anita Dunn will step down by the end of November and be replaced by her deputy Dan Pfeiffer, Fox News has learned.

Dunn's departure had been expected as she took the position on an interim basis earlier in the year. The White House had long said Dunn would leave before the end of 2009.

But her exit comes at a critical time for the White House, with the administration trying to push the Senate to follow the House of Representatives' lead in passing health care reform.

Dunn, who has been a vocal critic of Fox News and last month accused the network of being a "wing of the Republican Party," will remain as an outside consultant to the White House and continue to be involved in strategy.

Interview with the President: Jail Time for Those without Health Care Insurance?

During an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Jake Tapper today, President Obama said that penalties are appropriate for people who try to “free ride” the health care system but stopped short of endorsing the threat of jail time for those who refuse to pay a fine for not having insurance.

“What I think is appropriate is that in the same way that everybody has to get auto insurance and if you don't, you're subject to some penalty, that in this situation, if you have the ability to buy insurance, it's affordable and you choose not to do so, forcing you and me and everybody else to subsidize you, you know, there's a thousand dollar hidden tax that families all across America are -- are burdened by because of the fact that people don't have health insurance, you know, there's nothing wrong with a penalty.”

Under the House bill those who can afford to buy insurance and don’t’ pay a fine. If the refuse to pay that fine there’s a threat – as with a lot of tax fines – of jail time. The Senate removed that provision in the Senate Finance Committee.
