More Guns, More Death...Great Result

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/06/06/ind....ap/index.html

Can someone please explain how US gun laws makes this a good result.

Guns = Death

All your arguments about having a gun to defend yourself seem to pale when this happens.

Unless your endgame is natural selection take guns out of your society.

It's not like he could have done the same thing with a knife, now, right?

The problem is having people like him at large. The tool is not the problem.

Pray tell, with your guns all banned, is Australia now murder-free?

Why are you blaming an inanimate object? What makes you think he wouldn't have still killed those people without the use of a firearm?

Didn't read the story, but I assume it's another run of the mill piece on a gun that can't provide bullets for his family and ends up going on a rampage and killing a human?

You guys should read the story. It's about two robbers with guns robbing a house. The father came home and pulled a gun on one of the robbers. One gunman killed the father and then the other one killed the rest of the family, 7 of them total.

The moral of the story is, if the father didn't have a gun, maybe the family would be alive right now. Maybe.

And maybe not. As you noted.

If the scumbag piece of crap who killed the kids hadn't done so, they would definitely be alive.

The moral of the story, then, is stop releasing known scumbags back into society over and over again.

Your right, the father is totally to blame for having his house robbed by two gunmen. What was he thinking!?

That's true too....And then there is the part about the father supposedly having a safe full of drugs and money and that's what the robbers were there to steal. So there's that.....

That's not so much the moral of the story as your take on the story. How about...

- If the government didn't have a stupid, ineffective 'war on drugs', maybe the family would be alive right now. Maybe.

- If only the 'good' bad guy had the decency to defend the family by shooting the 'bad' bad guy, maybe the family would be alive right now. Maybe.

- If only people had better things to do with their time that spread rumors of safes, drugs, and hordes of cash, maybe the family would be alive right now. Maybe.

- If only we had effective law enforcement in general, the criminals wouldn't have been surrounded by a peer group that supported and approved of robbery, and maybe the family would be alive right now. Maybe.

- If only we taught women to have good taste in men instead of glorifying their hanging out with lowlifes, the criminals wouldn't have been able to borrow a get-away car, and maybe the family would be alive right now. Maybe.

Or my favorites...

- If the criminals didn't have good reason to believe the family members were unarmed, given our increasingly anti-gun society, perhaps they would have stayed away and maybe the family would be alive right now. Maybe.

- If the criminals didn't have good reason to believe the neighbors would not provide armed support to the family, given our increasingly anti-gun society, perhaps they would have stayed away and maybe the family would be alive right now. Maybe.

- If only the father would have had the good sense to shoot the first burglar before the second one came downstairs, maybe the family would be alive right now. Maybe.

- If only the father didn't have to worry about going to jail for life for defending his home and family, we'd be more likely to have seen the previous scenario and maybe the family would be alive right now. Maybe.

All valid interpretations.

Ah - so what we have here is one criminal killing another criminal and his family over a probable drug deal gone bad, but private ownership of guns is the cause of the whole thing...

Once again Samantha, thank you for gracing us with your towering intellect and incredible depth of thought.

It could be quite a pleasure Sam if you werent so intent upon ignoring facts and attacking others on completely unrelated points. If you actually approached a topic using facts and logic rather than fantasy and emotion, we could have quite an interesting discussion.

Please tell me you are kidding. A father comes home to two men with guns in his house...and since he has a gun to attempt to protect his home that gives the robbers a right to kill the rest of the family?

Did the other 7 family members have guns Samantha? The moral of the story is, there is no reason at all to kill 7 members of a family, whether the father had a gun or not.

I have guns in my home. If someone came into this house to rob us, I can guarantee my father would have his gun out and ready to protect us.
Does this give the robbers a right to come upstairs and kill me?

From what I read, it turns out that the killers thought there was a safe full of money and drugs. They picked the wrong house.
