Re: Fruit rotting on trees.

It seems pretty clear, to me, that we are refering to the US federal (interstate) government, and it shouldn't detract from the logic and reason of any argument.

Why do we have a constitution, if not to limit the power of the federal government and define the powers of the several state in relation to the interstate?

More bullshit. Eitehr you are just plain ignorant or you are just playing ignorant. You and I both, well at least I know, that immigration is a federal issue and not in the state or local purvue. Why else do you think the ACLU is using the argument that since this is a fedearal issue the sates and localities have no jurisdiction when they pass laws on what liiegals can and can not do.

Since when is trying to get the public sector to limit itself to the powers granted to it a form of bullshit? It seems, to me, that at least an organization is trying to ensure compliance with the constitution.

I, for one, plan on retiring on Lake Chapala in Mexico. I am eagerly awaiting the time when I can have a maid for $8 a day and a gardner for $30 a week. I may just get be two of each! Moreover, I also plan on going there on an immigrant visa and owning property there.

It looks a little far on the map. But you might consider moving there if you want to get away from the Mexicans. That community is about 50,000-100,000 Americans and Canadians. It is an English speaking community. And your dollar goes REAL far. The exchange rate is about 10:1.

Re: Fruit rotting on trees.

Do you have any idea of the kind of infrastructure they have in that colonia? I read somewhere that Mexico has an advanced telecommunications system; it just isn't readily available to all of their populace.

Yes, they have all the modern conveniences to include the internet. I get emails on a regular basis from by SIL's parents who live there. They also have gas, electric, etc. Most don't have air conditioning, but the temp is not usually over 78F. Most homes are masonry so no one buys fire insurance.

Oh, yes, and the country club is relatively inexpensive.

Bear in mind this is a community of Americans and Canadians.

Re: Fruit rotting on trees.

It sounds pretty interesting. I was wondering how hard it is to commute from there. The cost of living difference can be a market oriented criteria for some labor market participants.

Re: Fruit rotting on trees.

Seems like a good case for market friendly work visas, to me.

Here's a map.

Chapala, Jalisco is not on it, but it is 30 minutes away from Guadalajara. Probably too far for a commute. I think the place has come along in recent years.
