Imagine the outcry from some of our folks here if a US police force had done that.

There would be cries of "fascism"left and right. Well, OK, mostly left.
At least Spanish police are upfront with all their bullshit. In other words, they are less hypocritical than U.S police.

Yes, we are the laughing stock of the world since our leaders break laws right and left and nothing is done about it. Let's just hope the Democrat House can start the motions......although the Senate has a few too many Republicans still in it to have some real checks and balances. We'll see. I'm hoping we can show the world the real USA again soon.

If things continue on the course we're on now I sure in 08 there will be far fewer republicans in either house

Makes sense, If there still is a USA at that time - Bush got a hard on for the North American Union for some strange reason.

I seriously doubt there will ever be a North American Union. Its not something you can slip into legislation like an Earmark. We are talking about handing over our sovereignty and that is something to very few Americans would ever stand for, especially not if if meant supporting Mexico.

There may be a few who would want to expand their influence, but not a single state would ever ratify such changes to our constitution.

Perhaps we could further merge with Canada, but an alliance with Mexico might create an "East Germany" effect.

Re: Spike Strips too wussy? Try the Spanish pursuit termination technique!

I don't even think we should merge with anyone, but I think it's not right to leave Mexico out of the "North American Union", if there was one.

So what about Puerto Rico? I don't think it's fair that they can't vote, yet they can be drafted, if there were a draft. It's just wrong. Let PR vote!

There's a bit of a problem there. I don't know much about the police in Spain but I know the Guardia Civil is much like the Gendarmerie Nationale of France or the Carabinieri of Italy and other centralised police forces. In the US it's heavily localised so to talk of the "US police" is not accurate. I mean even the doctrinal differences between the east coast and west coast departments is major. There is no monolithic "US Police".

I know that, it was just a figure of speech.
