Doesn't the state line between Missouri and Kansas run directly through Kansas city? Must be a bureaucratic mess.

Yes it does & yes it is.

Duplication of government services out the wazoo.

Not to mention that people who live in Jackson County, Missouri pay taxes to support the sport's stadiums that house the Chiefs (NFL) and Royals (MLB) while the majority of people who attend games live in Johnson County, Kansas (which is one of the wealthiest counties in the U.S.). So, Missourians foot the bill & Kansans enjoy the spoils. It's a microcosm of how government works at the federal level----let the middle-class pay for it & the wealthy reap the benefits.

Ah, capitalism at it's finest.

Re: Do You Carry A Gun?

Getting the thread back on track.

Firearms.

St. Louis is currently #1 in the nation per capita in firearm related murders. Kansas City is, I believe, #3. Missouri, no longer the Show-Me State.

Now known as the Shoot-Me State.

Missouri has concealed-carry laws.

Most people in KC & St. Louis don't bother with laws though.

It's still the wild west here. Hell, Jesse James' house ain't but about 20 minutes from me.

Damn, I have to get over there next NFL season, if I get in early I might be able to see a Rams game in St Louis AND watch the action on the streets!

St. Pats Day is usually good for a few shootings.

I live in the 'burbs. The worst thing I have to deal with is the neighbor's dog shitting in my yard. I doubt our inner-city is that much worse than any other American inner-city. Statistically, maybe a little. But not so much that you'd notice.

As soon as you figure out the penalty, let me know: hb0349t_23.ps

I have on two ocasions had situations where I felt the gun I had with me was justified. Both occasions I was simply waiting in my vehicle while my wife was in a store shopping. One time I inadvertently witnessed a drug transaction and was seen by the people. As they started my way they saw me reach for my weapon. They stopped and stared for a few seconds and decided the action they planned was not as advisable, turned and went back to the sidewalk. This was in a daylight situation at a mall near my home.

Another time as a particularly unsavory looking character approached my vehicle, As I made my weapon ready, he decided he wanted nothing from me. Granted, in neither situation did I expose the pistol... the act of reaching for it was enough. Maybe the bluff alone would have worked but what if it didn't?

I have no desire to shoot anyone, though I know a couple of people I wouldn't miss if someone else took them out.
