Re: Do You Carry A Gun?

As a side note, I just got my letter from the sheriff stating that I am approved for concealed carry. Now all I have to do is go to the sheriff's station on Monday (they are closed, by now), pay my fee, and I can legally carry concealed in Idaho (and eleven other states where there is reciprocity).

I love living here.

Can carry permits only be issued to U.S citizens, or can they be issued to immigrants as well?

Varies by state. In Florida, any lawful resident alien may apply for a license to carry concealed.

You may find it funny, but I am 6'8" tall and weigh 260 lbs. I can conceal a full-sized autoloader on my person, no problem. So I will probably just carry one of my Kimber 1911's.

I just have to find a good CCW holster for it.

Kimber makes a nice firearm, no doubt about it. I carry a Pro Carry .45.

There are a ton of great holsters out there...

I'm doing it in support of my wife. She didn't want to go through the process alone, so we both took the classes and got our license.

I still have yet to carry, but it makes sense that we both have a license. It turns out, that if you have a piece in your car, and your non-licensed spouse drives it, they could get in trouble.

And while I have kicked many asses, my ass has been kicked many times, much to my (at the time) surprise. Never felt the need to carry. Still don't, unless I'm up in the mountains.

Re: Do You Carry A Gun?

No, I don't carry a gun. In general, I don't like guns.

(But, simply because my personal opinion of guns is this way, I would never support laws that would take this right away from those who enjoy it.)

Muhaha sorry, couldn't resist.

You have no means of defending yourself!
The logic in the UK, which seems to work well, is that if criminals do not expect their victims to use weapons then they are less likely to shoot first and ask questions later. This, combined with far more severe criminal sentences for armed offences, seems to have a significant effect on armed crime. It may, of course, be a question of attitude as well.

Re: Do You Carry A Gun?

On Sunday, I went down to the farm to ride horses. Shot some skeet while down there. Walked down a gravel road for about a mile with an SKS slung over my shoulder. The farmers that drove by just waved or said hello. How refreshing to be able to carry a firearm w/o people gettin' their panties in a bunch. I seriously doubt I could do this in the city.

Re: Do You Carry A Gun?

Oh, great idea, ban firearms so criminals are the only ones who have firearms. If someone is planning to kill people, do you think they will hesitate to illegally obtain a firearm because it's a crime? No. Sounds like the UK is heading towards fascism. Sad thing.

Re: Do You Carry A Gun?

People in the UK don't want guns. It's common sense if a gun is available it's more likely that a tragedy will occur than if none are available.
It works here.

Interesting how some people will rail so hard about "foreigners" commenting on US policy, yet try to force US perspectives onto other countries.

If it's working for the UK, who are we to say otherwise?
