Can I ask why they're difficult to obtain? What is the rationale for not being granted one? I would have thought that any law abiding citizen with no criminal record who wants a small caliber weapon shouldn't have any problem.

In California, you need a reason to carry one. A friend of mine in Los Angeles is a diamond broker, and he's got one, because he routinely carries millions of dollars wirth of diamonds on him all the time.

Seems the state needs more than just our 2nd Amendment right...

I'm a Realtor and manage a small mall retail store. The crime isn't all that high here (Huntsville, Alabama), but we did have an armed bank robber run through the mall a few months back. Being that good CCW laws seem to correlate with low crime, I'm doing my part to keep the crime rate low.
