How many times have you practiced the use of your gun in a situatiion where someone tried to grab it? Thinking that you can adequately control a firearm is like thinking that you can overpower someone twice your size just by taking a self defense class. If your reaction with your firearm is not second nature, I would give a second thought as to how well your training has prepared you for using your gun. On the other side of the coin, the person who has no reservations about robbing you likely has the presence of mind to keep his composure during these types of situations because they have been through them before.

Would you not just draw your weapon and tell the person to get the fuck away then? You wouldn't be in danger if you were more than an arm's reach away right?

Well I guess if you could shoot them I certainly would not say that someone who got caught with their hand in the cookie jar was treated unfairly...

If i remember correctly, my original question had nothing to do with the legal availability of full-auto firearms. My original question asked how one comes to the conclusion that a criminal act by one person justifies government stealing the property of everyone else.
