I really doubt that Wikipedia had #1 listed.

But thanks anyway...

I agree with the above (comming from a family of law enforcement persons)but if for no other reason than to "Feel Safer" when exposed to an outside danger it is a comforting device to have in ones possession.

Penalties are severe if caught with a firearm and not having the legal right to have one but again as it was once said to me. "I'd rather be judged by twelve than carried by six.

Or carried by two for that matter....rescuers into an ambulance after a serious asskicking.

I would think nothing of shooting people that wants to beat me up - even though I knew thats all they wanted to do.

Wasnt trying to take credit by any means. My apologies if it appeared such.

Yes - it was a Wiki copy and paste, which you COULD have queried yourself of course...

(but no...thats too damn much trouble until it comes time to criticize...)

Amen! I refuse to stand there and let someone do bodily harm to me if I've got the means to stop them!!!!

If so, do you think you wouldnt have been charged either?

Just as fast as I could clear leather, yep. It is not my responsibility to give much of a shit how they're going to feel about it or if they were only wanting to give me a black eye. If someone means to do me harm, and I have the means to prevent it, too bad for them.

Nope - at least not in Texas, or any other state in which I am likely to be.

Yeah, well, if one of these guys you shot for giggles happened to be a relative of mine, and the "law" let you walk, I'd feel compelled to remedy the situation.

Without hesitation and, no, I wouldn't have been charged...

If one of their relatives tried to "remedy the situation", I would not hesitate to act exactly as I did the first time a fuck-up from the family decided to threaten me...

Preventing someone from doing bodily harm to you isn't shooting them for "giggles". It called PROTECTING oneself. I'm a small woman, 5'2", 115 lbs., and there's no way I could prevent a man from beating me if I didn't have an equalizer. If I kill him in the process, at the very most, I MIGHT be charged with involuntary manslaughter but no jury would convict me if it went as far as the courtroom because I have the right to protect my body. The verdict would read 'justifiable homicide'.

If they're smart, they'll just put cyanide in your soup or sabotage the brakes of your car...

Noted. However, this situation would already be different because it would be a case of several men beating a woman. This would be, IMO, seriously malicious behavior.

Understand, Mrs.M, there are a lot of assholes walking around who DESERVE a beating. I could well imagine that my brother, for instance, who is a very patient man, might feel the need to give an occasional civic lesson to such an asshole. There is no way I'd let some creep get away with shooting him.
