I thought that you were claiming that I was somehow against police officers doing their jobs. If I misunderstood, I apologize.

Do I think that crossing the border illegally warrants deadly force? No. I crossed the border between France and Spain once by foot; I could have been taken as doing so illegally. It'd sucked to have been shot.

While I also admit that there are some individuals who cross the border seeking to perform criminal activity (in the more commonly accepted meaning - i.e. committing crimes against people or property), I also hold that there are many of those individuals who seek nothing more than a better life for themselves or their families; nigh impossible to find at home. Should they be killed for that? IMHO, no. If an individual threatens a police officer or other individual with harm, can deadly force be warranted? Absolutely. Should they be shot in the back if attempting to run, but not suspected of any crime other than border crossing? I say no.
