Gun-toting man catches criminal!

For all the flak that gun owners get, I'm glad that my son's brother-in-law had one last night. The BIL was just getting into bed when he heard someone trying to get into his window. He grabbed his gun and took off after the criminal but couldn't get a clean shot so he chased the guy, finally catching him. He pistol-whipped the criminal (the hammer actually got stuck in the guy's head at one point!) and the cops showed up a few minutes later. The criminal had already hit my son's house and car while he and his wife were out to dinner and he also tried to get in the grandparents prior to the BIL's house. So, for $400 cash and a few small items, this crook got his head split open and went to jail! He's just damn lucky that the BIL was a responsible gun owner who wouldn't chance a stray bullet hitting someone other than the crook otherwise, he'd probably be one dead MF!

If he was close enough to beat him, he was close enough to shoot him.

That would depend on the local laws, though. Glad to hear that he kicked the snot out of the little piece o' shit...

And yet showed both mercy and restraint. Kudos.

Like your statements about shooting at illegal immigrants, etc.?

No, I'm dead serious about shooting those who attempt to enter our country illegally...

Awesome! And apparently guns only breed crime.

Stories like this provide a wonderful counterpoint to the stories endlessly hyped by the anti-gun crowd who like to pretend no one ever uses guns for a good purpose.

Re: Gun-toting man catches criminal!

I understand the point of the story and I'm pro-gun rights myself...but couldn't he technically have gotten the same results using a hammer or something?

Just offering a counter point to spur discussion.

Perhaps, perhaps not.

What if the criminal had decided to shoot at him? A hammer would have been pretty worthless.

Incidentally - for those who believe this is a rare and isolated occurrence, Keep and Bear Arms.com compiles stories like this every day.
