The moral of this story is if you are going to give the law the finger and hide in a church, don't come out and hold a press conference.

Personally, I am opposed to the idea that a church can be used as a shelter from the law anyway. Seems to violate the separation of church and state by granting the church special extra-legal status.

Steve, why do you keep using the term illegals when what is bothering you is not the fact that they are staying illegal but that they are immigrants?

If the illegality was the problem the easy solution is just to make those 12 million people legal workers. But you dont want that, because you dont really mind the illegality, you just dont want those people staying in your country.

Then why doesnt he just want to make it easy for people to immigrate legally so there wouldnt be this mess? If everyone who wants to live legally in the us could walk to the border, fill in a form, and become a legal worker with all the corresponding rights would you be for that steve?

I have no idea where he stands on reform of current immigration policies, but I do know he is not against legal immigration. He has said this time and time again, as I recall.
