I was commenting on the post of an Americans comment on the Australian situation. If I adopted your arrogance I would have to say the same thing to him I suppose.

Re: Obama wants national ban on concealed carry
You are wrong but are you suggesting that the removal of guns has caused an increase in violence? Could you please explain the correlation?
Oh and here - NUMBER OF VICTIMS Compared to 2006, the number of victims recorded by Australian state and territory police agencies in 2007 decreased for manslaughter, murder, blackmail/extortion, motor vehicle theft, unlawful entry with intent and other theft (table 1). The offence categories recording the largest declines were manslaughter (down 28%) and murder (down 10%). Conversely, there was an increase in the number of victims of robbery (up 4%). VICTIMISATION RATE In 2007, the Australian victimisation rates for selected personal offence categories were: Murder, 1.2 victims per 100,000 persons, down from 1.4 victims in 2006 Attempted murder, 1.2 victims per 100,000 persons, no change from 2006 Kidnapping/abduction, 3.5 victims per 100,000 persons, no change from 2006 Robbery, 86 victims per 100,000 persons, up from 84 victims in 2006 Blackmail/extortion, 2.0 victims per 100,000 persons, down from 2.1 victims in 2006 (table 1) http://www.abs.gov.au/AUSSTATS/abs@....007&num=&view=

Re: Obama wants national ban on concealed carry
After Heller, i suspect the 1934NFA is not long for the books - ESPECIALLY since it can very easily be shown that full-auto weapons are most assuredly in "common use". EVERY military in the world uses them. Add on the fact that the NFA applies a tax to the exercise of an individual right for the express purpose of preventing said exercise, and you've got a double-whammy.

Re: Obama wants national ban on concealed carry
I am a college educated, white, 31 year old male that owns a business. I carry a concealed gun at all times, 9mm Tangfoglio with a 17 round clip to be exact . I have a concealed carry license. I have never shot any one, or at any one, nor have I ever robbed any one.
I started carrying after I was robbed around 10 years ago by a criminal who raided my house at 3 am and held me hostage for roughly 2 hours. I did not have a gun, he did. The police caught him, he is still serving his 30 year sentence. But they never recovered any of my possessions. Since I have started carrying I have not been robbed once. There have been a few mugging attempts and car jacking attempts, even still a few home invasion attempts, but they have all been warded off by the fact that I carry a gun. Fact is, I did not even have to point my gun in the assailants direction. They have all turned and ran when they saw me reaching for it. I would not like to know where I would be right now had I not had a concealed weapon. I can not vote for or support any politician that supports revoking concealed carry licenses. Nor should any one. The ability to defend ones self and property is a necessity. |
