Didn't they stop having big old stickers or particular license plates for rental vehicles in an attempt to not advertise the tourist schmucks were from out of state or something like that?
Yes, they quit identifying rental cars with plates and stickers.

That's hardly "Southern talk".

Seems you might be right.

Yeah, I doubt many tourists were getting a CCW permit. Didn't think that through too well.

It is actually legal to fly with your firearm in checked baggage, provided the firearm is properly cased and declared at checkin. It is also easy to get a Florida CWFL (concealed weapon or firearm license) for out of state residents.

That they did - and that was probably far more effective in reducing attacks on tourists.

Re: Purchasing a handgun - not so hard!

Just got back from putting 300 rounds through it. It shoots well. A bit more kick than my buddy's 9mm, but decent groups and I learned to compensate, or at least predict.

Sucker's loud, though. I hope I never have to use it for anything but the target range - shooting without ear cover has got to hurt!

Well I hope you had fun, 300 rounds is a good session, I imagine that it functioned perfectly and it should always work if properly maintained.

Were you just punching paper or did you have something else to shoot up.

In terms of noise, the usual theory being, that in the heat of the moment one wont concern themselves with noise or even recoil. This in my experience is not true. It is important to practice in a way that you are comfortable in terms of hearing and vision protection.

I also hope you managed to keep your thumbs and clothes out of the way of the slide. Knowing how fast the mechinical motion happens on a pistol is a bit surprising.

Re: Purchasing a handgun - not so hard!

Just punching paper. It's too cold to shoot outside for any length of time.

It functioned well. The springs in the magazines need to loosen up a bit - even with the loader getting that 10th round in was a serious PITA.

I kept everything out of that slide's way. I find I'm most comfortable with my left hand under the magazine as a support. Keeps everything nicely out of the way. The empty casings landing on my head weren't so enjoyable, though.

You should probably expand on that. I'm, more than likely, the only other member of the forum that knows your brother really is evil. Considering his situation WRT Bloomburg, most members would probably be sympathetic to him.

I thought that there was supposed to be a waiting period for pistols, but apparently that's not an issue in CO.

As a liberal, I'm not sure how I feel about how easy it was. However, I do look forward to taking it to the range and seeing how it shoots.

did this a couple of months back and I also was a little disturbed on how easy it was to just walk in and just walk out with a gun with little or no paperwork

Hmm without knowing what the weather was like, but Id hate to imply that you might be a....well that is what clothes are for.

As for mag spring tension, if you have a very secure place to store topped off clips for a few weeks that should do the trick. Now of course this comes with the disclaimer about keeping your guns and accessories out of the reach of anyone you wouldnt want to handle them etc.

Casings on your head? That isnt good, when I shot a Remington 11-87 for trap, I managed to land a spent shell right unto my neighbors collar and gave him a nice little burn. You might want to have a quality gunsmith adjust the extractor a touch to kick that hot brass clear.

Glad you enjoyed it. Practice lots and have fun.

You're in luck, you wouldn't even need to make a choice. I just did some reading, and one of the Desert Eagle's features is it's ease of converting calibers. Conversion kits are fairly easy to get and the conversion only takes a couple of minutes. And you get an extra barrel to boot, you never know when that will come in handy.

Is it ejecting straight back at you (it should not be) or are you getting hit in the head after the casings bounce off the stall wall (assuming you're shooting indoors)?

Might need an adjustment if it's flinging brass straight back.

Bouncing off the stall wall. I'm sure it's just because I'm inside.
