How prepared for emergencies are you?

Considering the recent events in the Midwest I was wondering how many people here consider themselves prepared for emergencies? If you are prepared then what kind of preparations have you made?

I have a pantry with about 1 months of supplies. I have a cabin on the lake that I can take my family to if needed. I do have several weapons that I keep just in case.
I keep myself physically fit. I run. I exercise. I teach the martial arts and practice parkour. I make sure to keep my survival skills up and make sure my children are taught to be prepared for emergencies.

I don't consider myself paranoid. I just consider myself prepared.

Sutanek

PS. This is the closest related area I could think of. If this is a problem then please move the thread.

I have 25 liters of water and 8 kilos of canned food (leaked weight). I don't have any weapons and I don't excercise, though I eat healthy and use my bicycle to get around on a daily basis.

I have a briefcase packed, a wad of cash, 2 open first class tickets to kauai, sunglasses and my friends house key...I'm all set.

Re: How prepared for emergencies are you?

The main thing I'm 'afraid' of is a disruption in the food or water supply since I'm in such a populous region of the world. There is no large river nearby and im well above "western storm" height so I'm not that worried about the water. Earthquakes don't really happen around here either.

Are there any other events I should be prepared for and how?

Get a few bottles of isopropanol - for sanitizing hands/body if the water gets contaminated.

Re: How prepared for emergencies are you?

Flashlights..battery operated radio in the basement (in tornado alley - kinda dumb if you don't)
I do have 3 guns, both the shotgun and the rifle have a shell/bullet in the magazine but of course none in the chamber.
The Llama is in my drawer..no bullets.

What about the so-called acts of god -- tornadoes, floods, drought, etc?

Re: How prepared for emergencies are you?

My emergency strategy:
I have a gun. My neighbors have everything I might need or want. Therefor, I have access to everything I might need or want. Including my neighbors.

Re: How prepared for emergencies are you?

We're pretty well set.

One of these days, the "big one" is gonna' hit California. When it does, we've got enough canned and dry food to last two to three weeks, plenty of water (which we replace every six months), three suitcases full of clean clothes, flashlights, radios, walkie-talkies, batteries, six handguns, three rifles, three shotguns, about 70,000 rounds of ammunition, and a camper...

Re: How prepared for emergencies are you?

TBH, I haven't prepared a thing. I have a Zippo and a dynamo-powered radio (for storms and being on the water). That's all I can think of right now. I guess I'm pretty much screwed and should think about this.
