Re: Next gun ban to fall?
Chicago is the closest one in substance to the DC ban, so I think its next.
NYC's "licensing" will raise slightly different issues, and I think it'll take a little longer. Ben

Re: Next gun ban to fall?
Its gonna be interesting to see if the annual murder rate rises or falls in these cities if they get rid of their gun ban.

This should be quite obvious from examining DC's crime statistics with a total ban in place. Matt |

Violent criminals don't care if their gun is legal. They are already out to commit crimes. Seriously, does anyone think a potential robber has ever said "man, I'd go stick up that store, but my gun is illegal and I don't want to get in trouble"? Matt |

What about murder rates in DC after 1991?

Re: Next gun ban to fall?
Violent crime rates decreased throughout the country from 1991 - 2005, but the rates remained significantly higher in DC.
To this day, DC's crime rates are among the highest in the country. Matt |

I'm concerned that this may remove my status as an unconvicted felon - I bought my first handgun as an act of civil disobedience when I was living in Chicago back when unauthorized possession was a felony. (They've since dropped it to a midemeanor.)
