I have never seen a gun maliciously attack anyone. I have seen other people use/misuse all sorts of tools though. And yes, protection is a valid use for killing another human being.

Semper fi maggot!

We have to be tolerant of those who couldn't make it in the Corps - somebody has to serve in the army, navy, coast guard, and yes - even the air force...

And making gun BANNING seem somehow reasonable.

Good advice to anyone with critical depression, not just gun owners. There are certainly MANY ways and means to kill oneself.

How there are any left is what's a fuckin' wonder.

I mean who the hell would want to JOIN the fuckin' military today ? We prosecute our own men for fighting our goddamn WARS. It's ridiculous.

War is HELL, not some freakin' tea party.

Not nearly as many as there were before.

My father was a Marine before me, a D.I. at Camp Hollywood during WWII. I figured after 18 years of boot camp, How bad could P.I. be?

This summer, I buried my father in Arlington. Two purple hearts and a silver star with an oak leave cluster, a veteran of Guadacanal.

Semper fi Pops...

Ya mean old bastard.

Well, good work

I have a feeling we'll be seeing fewer decent men and women like you and your Dad. Maybe I'm wrong. I just don't see what would motivate someone to join any of the forces in todays environment of extreme left leaning stupidity and expanded bureaucracy.

This is not news.

The number of guns used to kill people is also statistically insignificant.
If statistical insignificance is sufficient to negate an argument, your argument is thus negated.

There is a lot of talk from gun ownership proponents who speak of the right to self defense, yet the exercise of that right is statistically insignificant. (This is incorrect, firearms are used for defense by crime victims at an annual rate of about 10-15%; based on criminal justice data from 1987-1992--the first data I found.)

If there is a gun in your house, it is more likely that it will be used by someone in your house to kill themselves, including you, or in a crime, than it is to be used to defend someone.

My suggestion to gun owners, keep those trigger locks in place, the gun safes locked, and seek treatment for anyone with depression.

-edited to correct a misstatement/AA
Would you be happier if they would have jumped off the bridge of political correctness? How about OD'd on some PC meds? Cut their wrists with a PC razor blade? Maybe sat in their PC garage and inhaled some PC carbon monoxide?

I did lock the gun lock part. I'd shoot myself , but I've misplaced the damn key again............

Gun locks are a curious thing.
They dont do a thing to stop someone that steals a gun from using it.
if used properly, they DO stop kids from accidentally shooting themselves or someone else with a gun -- but then, shouldnt kids know not to mess with a gun?

Yes... but you knew, and she knows, not to mess with a gun.
Right?

Right?
Please define; 'messing with a gun'.

Cleaning, shooting, handling, admiring, showing guns is not dangerous if you follow practical safety procedures.

No matter what your age.

I refuse to use my gun lock on my .357 simply because I don't want to have to fumble for a key if someone breaks into my house. For the record though, when my grandkids come over, the gun is in a case on top of a 7' armoire in my bedroom and they have no idea it's even there.
