Re: Man arrested with weapons at Pelosi's Denver hotel

Why don't we just wait and see what the outcome of this case is?
My prediction is he will be found guilty of some violating municipal law and get probation.

I'd concur with that prediction.

Well, I paid attention to the article, but I didn't see anything which addressed whether or not the pistols were cased or unloaded, or whether or not the rifles were unloaded.

In fact, the very article you linked to states that authorities weren't releasing information as to whether or not the weapons were loaded, so I have to wonder how you've been able to conclude that they were.

Don't get me wrong; I think the whole thing is bullshit, but it's easier to make your case if you state facts, as opposed to stating what you want to be facts...

There’s a special weapons loading/unloading zone statute in Denver? Funny nobody else mentioned that, how far from a gun store or gun smith does this special zone extend? If the hotel doesn’t have a policy that forbids occupants from checking in with firearms that they made known to the public, he did nothing to warrant an arrest.

They aren't, but Scotties Guns and Militaria and Safearms Academy are in the city. It looks like they're within 2 miles of the hotel.

Re: Man arrested with weapons at Pelosi's Denver hotel

Just a little update to the story:

Quote:
Prosecutors say no charges will be filed against a man who was arrested after causing a weapons scare during the Democratic convention.

Joseph Calanchini of Pinedale, Wyo., was arrested on suspicion of unlawfully carrying a weapon on Aug. 23. Police say he had two hunting rifles and two pistols in a case when he tried checking in to the Denver hotel where House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was staying.

Pelosi was evacuated.

Denver DA's spokeswoman Robin Finegan said today police never presented the case to prosecutors. Police did not immediately have additional information.

Calanchini has said he didn't know about the convention or that Pelosi was at the hotel.

He says he's relieved the case is closed but he hasn't gotten his guns back.

No charges for man with guns at Pelosi's DNC hotel : Updates : The Rocky Mountain News
Must have been serious crimes involved if the police never even bothered referring the case to the DA.

Thanks. I had stopped looking for information on this last week. Didn't think it would take that long.

Since when do Secret Service goons have anything to do with members of Congress?

Translation: you're a typical liberal who does not believe in rule of law. Just as in the Soviet Union, you believe that people here should be arrested based not on any actual law, but mere subjective "suspicion."

Except such a concept goes over liberals' and neoconservatives' (whose ideology is rooted in liberalism) heads.

Performance tip: if you're going to bump a thread that has been dead for two weeks, you might want to:

a) learn how to use the multi-quote feature
b) write something that actually contributes to the conversation

Just a thought.
