Re: Right to buy ammunition
The NFA is one thing, the 1986 ban is another. Look for both to be overturned soon.

Here's one very valid reason: When/if the people need to stand up to the military, they should be armed at least as well. When the Constitution was written, the people were typically armed BETTER than the military. Quote:
Even today, private citizens can and DO own artillery. Why? Why should the state have the superiority of force? Remember, the state serves the people, not the other way around. There are many weapons which will only be owned by the government, purely because of sheer cost. On the other hand, if a private citizen can afford it, that is his right to purchase it. Before you bring up the silly assed argument of nukes, bear in mind those are not only so hideously expensive that only Bill Gates could purchase one, but they are all owned by the US government which has no obligation to sell them.

Re: Right to buy ammunition
I guess man, but you can't seriously think that the Government would allow machine guns to be sold any less regulated than they are right now. Grenade launchers, artillery and explosives do not need to be in the general publics hands, in the interests of national security.

Machine guns are pretty much where i draw the line. I'd have no problem with normal m4s AKs G3s, etc.. being sold to people. (in fact i would relax the Class 3 restrictions a little bit). I wouldn't really have a problem with heavy machine guns (.50 cals etc.) being sold under todays CLass 3 auspices. But grenade launchers, artillery etc.. thats a bit much |

Grenade launchers, artillery and explosives are already in the general public's hands - especially explosives. Those are just basic chemistry.

Besides, if the USSC does what I expect it will with some of the upcoming cases, Buttfuck O'Bastard wont have a choice. The PEOPLE will enforce the USSC's decisions.

Re: Right to buy ammunition
Dont even need a class III for some explosives. Just a trip to your local lawn and garden store.

Besides, even WWII artillery is kinda expensive so its not like you have to worry about Cletus the Slack Jawed Yokel running to the Piggly Wiggly and picking one up. The people that can afford to purchase them are already people who are law abiding.

Re: Right to buy ammunition
This is a great point. I always wonder why people are so against guns when you can make far more dangerous weapons with stuff you can buy at Home Depot.

Not particularly a situation I want to see. If it comes down to a vote, my vote is against explosives, artillery, and grenades and grenade launchers being availible to the public. Even behind a class 3 license its just too much destructive power to trust to joe public. Joe public is a stupid, quick to anger, easily led buffoon. Buffoons Shouldn't get to play with things that go BOOM. |

So you don't think that allowing the general public (who might i remind you is comprised mainly of idiots) fucking ARTILLERY POWERFUL ENOUGH TO LEVEL CITIES is a national security risk? Its just too much power in the hands of someone who could fall off the deep end at almost any moment. I don't trust the public any farther than i could throw em, and its hard to throw a couple billion people. Right. So go cook up some homemade napalm, and make a few fertilizer bombs while I call the ATF. |
