I don't get it. I should stop complaining because the injustice has been happening for a while now? If only Hitler had kept his camps running a bit longer. Then, he'd have people like you telling everyone to just stop complaining.

Don't like it, i suggest you and a couple million friends write him a very stern letter. If you ask nicely i'll sign my name to it and even pay for postage.

Wanna know how you enforce a "contract" with a politician? You vote him out of office. You campaign to let him know you are massively dissatisfied with his behavior. etc.

This is about morality and compliance with laws pursuant to our Constitution.

If our elected representatives to government can not abide by our laws, why should we expect anyone else to have any more respect for our laws?

as long as you don't start talking about the above quote which has nothing to do with this topic.

because of the false stigma attached to it over a couple of generations. Reefer Madness comes to mind. Association with other drugs that do have noticable side effects and bad problems. It being illegal and part of the drug trade doesn't help its rep either.
That and the fact that no politician will touch the subject with a ten foot pole.

Re: Make an argument as to why marijuana should be illegal....

That is why I have to question the ethics and morals of our elected representatives to office. We would not have the expense of a drug war, if our elected representatives to office were more moral.

Most of our elected representatives to office claim the morals and ethics of Christians, but without any moral test requirement. If, as is said by some, that affirmative action leads to sloth or corruption, then how can affirmative action for Morals be any better?

I believe that is one reason for our secular Constitution being the supreme law of the land, and not the Ten Commandments.

theres the hitch though. Ethics are subjective. To them, they are moral by "protecting us from ourselves" from the evils of the great and evil marijuana plant.

Re: Make an argument as to why marijuana should be illegal....

Ethics does not employ the concept of good versus evil in the same manner as religious morals.

It is more ethical to comply with our Ninth and Tenth Amendments along with the rest of our US Constitution, than it is to outlaw a defenseless plant and burden us with that tax expense.

It is already ethical and moral to regulate and tax Commerce.

You preach to the choir fella. However not everyone believes as we do that it would be better to legalize it. Lotsa people think its the devil in plant form ready to steal your soul away. Or that it makes you so lazy youll not hold down a job (which is untrue cause i need the job for things like living and eating. and buying pot. and getting laid. all very important things).
The problem is you can't convince them of it by using standard arguments.
Just like a Bible Thumper can't convince you of the existance of God by citing the Bible as a sourse. Its circular. Same basic principle.

As a form of private property and Commerce, I only view recreational drugs for their perceived value and marginal utility.

As a moral argument, however, how can any Judeo-Christian believe that pot is bad, when their own God claimed it was Good.

Did you also complain about broken promises from Bush?

Do you agree that both parties have sold out the American people?

Arguments can be made left and right. For instance the one i hear touted most often is "your body is a temple" etc. They consider drugs to defile said temple. But so do fatty foods.
Others claim getting intoxicated is spoken out against in the bible. Still others claim that its only use should be medicinal.
Point is it doesn't matter. Youve got to find a way, within their beliefs to change their mind. I usually go with hate the sin love the sinner, and let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Also "what you don't light incense in your temple?". And the general argument of "its none of your fucking business". i like that one alot. Doesn't get good results though.

What you are telling me, is that most people haven't read their own Constitution. It is written in simple American English for a reason. What do the First and Ninth Amendments mean to them?

Ask them to consider their First Amendment, from this Perspective:

Quote:
Amendment 1
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of Religion, or Prohibiting the Free exercise thereof; or abridging the Freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Quote:
As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality.
- George Washington, 1st US President
Quote:
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.
- Thomas Jefferson, 3rd US President
