I understand your point and it's perfectly logical in many regards, it's just that some states and some areas like New York City, for example, make gun ownership extremely difficult for law abiding citizens but felons can still buy guns on the street and that doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Maybe the new thumbprint for ammo law will help change that perhaps? Not sure if crooks can by ammo off the street so easily.

I have tried going to banks that required this! What happened was, I told them if my ID isn't good enough, then the bank isn't worth my time or business! I turned around and went to the bank across the street!

ok. well then maybe you should have to show your carry permit (we discussed a few weeks ago) to buy ammo?

basically a drivers license for gun ownership. shows you have been through a background check and safety/handling competence course when you bought your gun, that your not a felon, gives you permit concealed carry in all states, and allows you to buy ammo.

i actually dont have any problem with this and if you have been to a event like Knob Creek Knob Creek Gun Range and see the availability of ammo i think its probably a great idea to have some screening or tracking measure

Better; but at this point you don't need to have carry permit to buy a handgun, only to carry a concealed handgun. I don't see your plan being implemented anytime soon.

This is nothing new for my state. To own ANY firearm, you must obtain a specific license (ranging from an FID to an unrestricted Class A. LTC), and the process includes being fingerprinted, photographed, produce references, ect. In fact, my Class A has a copy of my thumbprint scan right on it, as well as my picture, name, and other info.
