    Self Defense: Yea or Nay

Unidentified men are creeping around outside your house with guns.

You go to check it out to make sure your family is safe.

They kick in the door and come running in with their weapons raised.

Do you defend yourself? Should you?

    Thugs or a SWAT team?

SEALS? SG-1? Muslim terrorists? Jehovah's Witnesses (shoot like hell!) UN troops? Lost coon hunters? Ex-wives? (been threatened)

Well, he did say "unidentified men". So, all of the above.

Isn't that really the whole problem? How do we know?

On the other hand, chances are pretty good that a band of men with guns are going to prevail. Maybe trying to avoid gunfire is sometimes a wise choice.

People have tried complying during home invasions. They end up getting tied up and executed before the criminals take what they want and leave.

And on the other hand, people live through home invasions all the time without firing a shot.

You take whatever actions you can up to and including deadly force BUT you need to make sure that you identify your target. The last thing you want to do is to shoot your spouse who decided to pull a really dumb stunt.

I don't give a fuck who comes through my door like that, they are getting shot. I most likely will, too, but a man has to have at least some principles by which to live. If I, as a law abiding citizen, no longer have sanctity in my own home, then it is far past time to start another revolution.
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add "within the limits of the law" because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

This is why police are required to announce themselves when they enter your home so they're not mistaken for random thugs.

And when police do kick down your door usually there's a very good reason behind it. Most likely they're not there to sell you tupperware or girl scout cookies and it's probably because you're considered extremely dangerous or fear someone in the house's life is in danger.

That's not a nice thing to say about tsquare's ex-wife.

In my particular case, they'll be shot before they enter.

Yes, in Texas that absolutely is legal.

Thought this thread might spark your attention Eric..

And yeah i am pretty much with you, they wouldn't make in through the front door without a bullet in the head, and its perfectly lawful which is the wonderful protection of Texan law. We're one of the few states that actually gets it right and goes far enough.

Re: Self Defense: Yea or Nay

So far in Imagination World, Traveler has the best aim (bullet in the head), EricOKC has the best range (shot before they even enter) and tsquare has the most bang for the buck (grenade).

I would shoot them in the eye with an RPG before they even set foot on my lawn. Beat THAT.
