PTSD manifests itself in myriad different ways and there is no way to reasonably determine that a simple diagnosis of the issue is reason to presume that the individual is going to be a danger to himself or others.

Not everyone with PTSD is the same. Having PTSD does NOT automatically mean someone is dangerous.

The bigotry it takes to make such blanket statements is truly beneath you, MHP. Please do some research and stop contributing to the bias against people with mental health issues, YAR?

Even if those figures are correct "at least 50%" isn't the same as "all".

Over the years I have dealt with LOTS of people with PTSD and although violent and/or impulsive behavior can be part of the equation it's just as likely that when they encounter a "trigger" they will curl up into a ball and simply be non-communicative until they work through the episode. Although there are some commonalities which allow it to be diagnosed the ways it ultimately manifests itself are as varied as the people who suffer from it.

You might also want to consider that PTSD isn't something limited to combat veterans. It's just as likely that someone who was in a relatively minor car accident develops symptoms as it is someone who fought through Fallujah.

This is exactly that I said on that thread about the guys death, He who lives by the sword dies by it, and who in hell would take a shell shock victim to a firing range? So, I have to agree with Dr Paul, because I said it first. Shell shock is indeed a mental problem. No one with a mental problem should be allowed to hold a gun in his hand. He might wig out and kill someone. Which is exactly what happened!

Yeah, we should arm everyone with mental disabilities! And put child molestors in charge of a room full of kids. And make rapists security guards a all girl dorms. Only hire alcoholics to make whiskey. Where is the common sense here?
