Re: A Question For Supporters Of Government Run Healthcare...

What is the objection to a federal PHS research hospital in every state with a dedicated fiber optic network and supercomputer for that system?

Such a public policy can create jobs, provide infrastructure, and potentially eliminate our poverty of perfect knowledge of infirmities.

It's not an awful idea but the pork troth it creates for each state would be impressive.

How would health care providers that aren't at the facility access the facility? Many in the medical profession are shockingly ignorant when it comes to computer tech. The wife was a software trainer who trained Doctors, hospital staff, transcriptionsists and was amazed at how little Doctors knew all over the country.

I doubt the "abstinence only" funding amounted to much. Yet you refer to Iowa's "independence" from federal funding. You were challenged to name a state which is truly independent from federal funding for hospitals, and I also doubt you can provide an example.

As a research hospital system, it could be considered more cost effective to add that capability and alleviate that cost to the private sector.

From a consumer of statism point of view, it is more cost effective to implement that type of system because of the size of the consumer base.

As a public sector research hospital, research information could achieve sooner time to market for products and advances in the art and science of medicine.

As a form of opportunity cost, it should be considered more moral and ethical to build a modern federal research-hospital system that provides access in every state, than it is to continue paying for the crime, drug, poverty, and terror wars.

Uh, no. I was challenged to name a state that had turned down federal funding to maintain some degree of independence. I did. There are others. It's not a huge movement or anything, but, as I said, I find it inspiring that some of them are starting to wake up.

I think the only "waking up" Iowa did was to acknowledge that abstinence education is not health care.
