I'll Get Behind The Golden Boy's Plan...

After giving it some thought, I’m prepared to get behind Obama Care. I’m ready to acknowledge that we should, really, be providing our citizens with basic health coverage.

I am, however, only prepared to do it if we’re able to stop sending untold billions in aid to other countries. Clearly, a desperate need has been identified in this country. Is it not more important to tend to our own citizens than to citizens of some country on the other side of the world? Don’t the concerns of rising costs dictate that we use our money here to address the issues here?

So, stop the idiocy of foreign aid, and I’ll become the fucking poster child for government health coverage…

I am happy with your conclusion but more are needed.

I am not against foreign aid but it as with all capital must yield a return.

Capitalism is not dead it simply needs a haircut.

Its time to pay the piper and call ther tune.!

You think that simply cutting out foreign aid is going to cover this?

Most Foreign aid is paid back. And what ever happened to helping people less fortunate than ourselves?

If you want to cut spending in some area then why not cut spending in defence?

Re: I'll Get Behind The Golden Boy's Plan...

We only give 39 billion annually, and 14 billion of that is to Iraq and Afghanistan. It would seem practical to keep aid to Iraq and Afghanistan since the success of our military efforts there probably depends quite a bit on funding those countries for the near term. Subtracting off those amounts would only leave 25 billion annually, and that's about 1/3rd or 1/4th of the total amount needed to fund the typical kind of plan being discussed (which is usually ~100 billion annually for the first 10 years).

Ah, perhaps not.

Let's start looking for other spending to cut, as well...

I'd support cutting off a lot of foreign aid. I'm just not opposed to it in general.

Why point out the 711 Billion we waste on a military that can't seem to get out of it's own way, when their is the 23 Billion we spend on foreign aid to complain about.

ahhh yes , this is so old and misguided, do you think the people of Europe between 45 and 89 would have been on board? What would have happened to helping them, the disadvantaged?

We have people here who need assistance.

They have people there who need assistance.

It's our money.

We should keep it and use it for our own people, and not theirs...
