capitalism does that perfectly. You can't get filty rich without making the poor rich too. Henry Ford gifted billions of dollars in automobiles to Americans and made only $1.65 per car for himself. It is far better to be poor in America today than a King 100 years ago thanks to capitalisms ability to so widely distribute goods and services.

Talwakar: There's no question that people spend less when enrolled in high-deductible insurance plans. This was famously demonstrated by the RAND Health Insurance Experiment from 1974-1982, which found that people who had to pay most of their medical bills (as in a high-deductible plan) spent an average of 30 percent less than those on traditional insurance plans, with little to no effect on patient health.
That isn't the case he was trying to make.

But even so, lets run with that. Lets accept the study as accurate. Was there any correlation between a need for care, or was the only issue the willingness or ability to pay?

Yes, rationing health care must be done. With no rationing the system would be overwhelmed.

There are several ways to perform the elementary rationing, and I suppose personal ability to pay is a valid method.

Personally that is not a favorite for me, since children as a rule have no access to wealth, so they are rationed totally out of the system, unless mommy and daddy take care of it for them. The result for the poor is lack of care and quackery for children, thus setting them up to be failed adults.

I would prefer some blend of the rationing systems as used in other countries.

how perfectly Nazi-like and liberal of you to assume mommy and daddy don't know how to take care of their children, but you do! Since there is no end to the socialism a Nazi will want why not put kids in a commune where you can make sure the liberal gives them everything he wants.

Your view is 100% anti American, even when America is obviously the most successful country in human history!! Go figure.

Not really. I said it probably would be, but it's entirely irrelevant. That was the point I was making. Justice and law enforcement are governmental functions, and the costs thus "socialized", because they must remain impartial and not subject to the monetary influences, not because its a handy way to socialize costs.

The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort." -- Robert E. Heinlein

I guess you haven't spent much time being poor, or around people who are poor.

I have met and know loving parents who take their children to the Shamin, the Medicine Man. I have seen the remedies.

how wonderful that you are superior to them. Hitler Stalin and Mao were sure they knew what was good for the people too!! It is true that the poor have been senselessly infantilized by crippling welfare programs. Blacks in particular were targeted by liberals; it amounted to a near genocide against them. Your lingering liberal paternalistic Nazi-likee approach is like another Soviet 5 years plan to make up for the failure of the previous one.

The way to make the poor become responsible again is to stop the liberal paternalism that so damaged them, not increase it.

Are you against highways? Child labor laws? Safe skies? Food inspections? Truth in advertising? Drugs that are honestly tested and evaluated? Or just against health care for children?

Tell that to the Oracle CEO who made over $87 millions last year, when the entry level worker WITH a bachelor degree can expect to make about $60,000. It is true that, after about 20 years work with Oracle, when the guy is 40 or so years old, he may expect to make $120,000 a year!

Now, there is no telling what the "poor" (like the janitor and receptionist)working at Oracle make. . . .but I do not believe it will come even close to the $87 million dollars!

why are you changing the subject??? You said parents could not be responsible regarding their own children and so the liberal state had to step in because it knows best! Jefferson created America to be free of your Nazi like attitude. The results have been spectacular, the results from liberalism have been deadly to the tune of 140 million dead.

The world was always ruled and destroyed by liberal statists exactly like you! Jefferson knew the people were no dumber than the liberal people who would rule them based on their Nazi-like feelings of moral superiority. Do you look in the mirror and thank God for your contempt of Jefferson's respect for the people.

First, no, that is not what I said, nor is it what I meant.

Second, no one that I know of on USPOL are Nazis. By making the Nazi claim you are discrediting everything you say.

It is an established Internet rule that the first one to mention Hitler or Nazis automatically loses the argument because it shows a desperation born from a lack of facts.

I said Nazi-like. A liberal will only be Nazi-like in the beginning. Do you think Hitler Stalin and Mao knew where their liberalsm would take them in the beginning? Did they know they were on the "Road to Serfdom"? Have you read "Liberal Facism". Was it just by chance the liberals spied for Stalin and gave him the A-Bomb? Is it by chance that Bernie Sanders is a liberal and open socialist?? IS by chance that BO has 2 communist parents and voted to the left of Sanders?

Imagine where the world would be without Republicans as the last best hope for freedom on earth!

In a free country if you want to make $87 million you have to gift to the American people $1billion in goods and services like Larry Ellison does. A janitor sweeps the floor; he does invent new products that free people all over the world want to buy to improve their standard of living.

Capitalism is like love, the rewards go to those who gift a higher standard of living to the world. Capitalists happily give 10000 times more than they receive.

I guess you don't know Larry Elison's background and story then, if you write that comment.

    ahoy Brutus,

    that may be, but consider the followin', and i think ye shall see whar yer reasonin' falls short, specifically in relation to the OP;

Prison burrito recipe is as follows. Prepare noodles as directed, drain and put into a zip-top bag. Throw in cheese and chopped veggies of your choice and seal. Roll bag so it forms the shape of a burrito. Let bag sit for 10 minutes. Remove from bag and enjoy.
How do you make a prison burrito out of ramen noodles? | ChaCha Answers

    and while i can see the parallels in yer comparison 'o various tyrants, consider this variation;

to make a jailhouse burrito, 2 - 3 bags of doritos are crushed and mixed together in one bag with a chopped up slim jim and a sauce to alter flavour (ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, soap, potato vodka, etc.). a small ammount of water is added (about 1/4 the bag), and it is sealed up and allowed to sit.

after a while, the water causes the crushed-up doritos to expand, encompassing the other ingredients and holding them static in the loaf (burrito).

the bag is cut away with a shiv, revealing a dorito-bag-shaped, salty dorito-based loaf with a similar appearance to a large wet burrito.
    Urban Dictionary: Jailhouse Burrito

    *holds up his hand*

now just hold on, me hearty...i know what yer goin' to say. the same tired rant about Doritos and what they imply, but i tend to think they just add a bit 'o seasonin'. its still counts as a viable component, at least to folks who hath the steel in thar spine to stand up fer what they believe in; things like freedom and personal responsiblity.

    ok?

    aye!
