Yes, I have great health insurance
Yes, but it's not so great
What I have is inadequate
I have no health insurance

Kathleen Sebelius will decide if what you have is acceptable, what the benefits package has to be. Isn't it remarkable that no one has told us what they plan to require?
For the last six years, I've had pretty comprehensive coverage that my family and I are happy with...

I's fine to just vote and not reveal personal details in a post.
I would like to know what people think should be included in the mandated minimal policy, as the Congress passed the buck on this to the Dept of Health and Human Services (to both define the required benefit package, and evaluate adequacy of existing health insurance policies).
How the CBO could estimate the cost of the mandate, without knowing what tratment it will subsidize, is another puzzle.

I have had no health insurance for 12 years. As I understand it, though, If all Americans are required to get health insurance I'll be screwed.
Why would I be screwed? Well, since I'm over 65, I can't buy private insurance as my primary care. I would be forced to buy Medicare. Since I live in Mexico, I can't use Medicare. If I don't buy it the IRS will fine me. If I buy Mexican insurance I'm sure it won't meet Democrat standards.
So, I'm screwed.

No, she will not.
I'm not interested and don't care what a band of corrupt and retarded "lawmakers" require.
If they want to make me into a 'criminal' by changing the "law," then I will become a criminal.
Even though the real criminals are the ones currently making "law."
This will become clear as more time passes.
As of twelve hours ago, I don't have a job. The job I'm going to have when my public transportation permit comes in doesn't off healthcare. In nearly twenty eight years on this planet, I've spent less than four months insured. I'm not too worried about it.
All good socialists have villas in Southern France. That's not the point.

First they came for the mimes, and I did not speak out, because I was a mime.
Oaxaca is gorgeous.
First they came for the mimes, and I did not speak out, because I was a mime.
That may very well be.
Since I've never been I can't really dispute it. But since it has no real bearing on this discussion I see no need to.
My point remains, if an American citizen can't be bothered to live within the borders of U.S. territory why should those of us who do (though we could probably find more gorgeous or economical places to live elsewhere) really care about how this law effects them?
You wanna live in Mexico because the country is beautiful and the cost of living is a joke?
Great. More power to you.
But don't expect me to care how this law effects (all three of) you.

Some related questions- have you used your health insurance lately? Have you had a complete physical in the last year?
A lot of people don't know how bad their insurance is, how insurance companies use outdated cost tables to pay only half of actual medical bills. Those with high deductibles may go for years without seeing a doctor at all. Others expect to get back way more than they pay, their deductible is a small fraction of the benefits they receive.
Mandated coverage won't be worth much if you can't use it, but will cost taxpayers a fortune if it takes care of everything.
I have great healthcare. Looking forward to getting taxed on it, paying more for it, getting less coverage, and finally having it replaced by a terrible government program. Bt at least we can count on this thing to create jobs by freeing job creating entrepreneurs from the shackles of an evil corporate job, right? Actually, I predict that unemployment will go up when people who work primarily to have healthcare coverage can get the same level of coverage whether employed full time or not.

I see the problem. You thought I wanted you to care. Not hardly. I was asked a question, I answered. Of course, you should be thanking someone who lives in Mexico and still pays U.S. income tax but I don't expect that either. And, like it or not, I still vote in the U.S. Voting and being a taxpayer makes me a double minotirty, doesn't it?
"You wanna live in Mexico because the country is beautiful and the cost of living is a joke?"
Wrong and wrong. You're batting a thousand. I moved from Colorado which was a truly beautiful state. It costs me more to live here, because of personal choices, than it would it the U.S. I live here because I like the people and the personal freedom.
From the law:

`(A) if such month occurs during any period described in subparagraph (A) or (B) of section 911(d)(1) which is applicable to the individual, or
Now consult 911(d)(1). Sounds like you.
You're fine.
