For what it's worth, I'm not happy with the bill either, but it seems like you guys want to rest blame solely on a faulty bill that actually benefited the industry, and not blame the actual culprits of rising health care costs; the insurance companies themselves!
Yeah, forcing the insurance companies to offer policies to the cig smokin, fat munchin lardasses of America couldn't possibly have caused rates to increase.

Keep telling yourselves how good it is, dems.
Oh, well, shit, if the company told you so, it must be true.

You mean fat munchin, cigarette smoking alcoholics are going to be covered for the first time???

P.S. Heres a little actuarial secret, alcoholics and cigarette smokers cost insurance companies a lot less than teetotaling exercise freaks.
Don't tell anyone, but the people who don't die from trauma, like car accidents or gunshot wounds, get sick and die, without exception. And the healthy ones hang on a lot longer and run up a much bigger bill.
That 350 lb chain smokin', 10 beers a night on the way home dude, clutches his chest , and is dead before he hits the floor. That's not medical expense, that's funeral expense. Mr. Tubby Chimney is going to be stone cold dead long before he gets to a million dollar cap.
That in shape, super fit, eats free range organic person will die of a disease that takes it's time, and runs up the tab, and these are the folks that hit the million dollar limit.
If you really want to lower health care costs, the government should hand out free cigarettes, and PlayStations, and big screen TVs to keep people on the couch, and Oh, Yeah, subsidize Vodka...

And introducing straw men like your post does is just that much more helpful.

So, everyone who wasn't offered a policy was a "cig smokin, fat munchin lardass?" Must be nice to live in your nice and neat black and white world.

Of course, that's not reality, but eh, don't let me intrude.

Chassisman prefers things much simpler. Insurance companies are inherently good - and so if they refused someone a policy, it was their own damn fault for being too damn fat. No other reason could possibly exist ... like the profit motive required by law makes the business model structured so less and less people are covered - and if they are covered, that they do not pay once sick.

    Nah, that can't be it.

Sure , there are people who have pre-existing conditions thru no real fault of their won..then there is self inflicted FATASS America.........ever open your eyes and look at that RB? the masses willingly run their cholesterol up and general health down thru lifestyle and you think that when insurers say no to them they are the big corporate bad guys, eh? So healthy people like me should pay more so they can have insurance with their fatburger, and a nice smoke afterwards.......ahh, the ethics of a great socialist!

When I see one of these human jabathehuts on a power scooter at Walmart, I wonder are they disgustingly fat because they're handicapped, or handicapped because they're disgustingly fat

so you are seriously trying to say that the Health Care Bill has nothing to do with teh rising prices?

I'm saying that I haven't seen any evidence that shows that it has had any significant impact either way at this point.
