America. The Best Health Care System in the World! NOT!

I encourage you to read the entire article. There is a link for whatever flavor you consider yourself. This is abominable. But hey! This child who should get paid out the yin yang, unfortunately, lives in California, the home of tort reform. What a victory for those doctors and nurses.

Yeah yeah. ~shh~ Everybody makes mistakes. That's just pure bullshit.

You have all swooned and wept over the Canadian child who couldn't get her death extended. No doubt you will feel all warm and fuzzy about this child. After all, she has had the best health care in the world!~

SACRAMENTO -- A couple filed a lawsuit this week against a Sacramento hospital and a handful of employees after their 2-year old daughter lost part of all four of her limbs due to a bacterial infection.

Malyia's parents brought her to Methodist Hospital in November when she had a persistent fever, skin discoloration and weakness.

Ryan Jeffers and Leah Vang watched as their little girl became sicker and sicker as they waited for 5 hours in the emergency room.

Jeffers allegedly begged doctors and nurses in the emergency room to treat his daughter.

Anecdotal evidence is no evidence at all.
Ever heard of statistical significance or a statistically significant sample size?

It sounds lilke, at least on healthcare, we often agree.

This case is particularly sad, though! What a waste!
Hopefully, she will get enough from the system to be able to afford the latest and best technology for prosthesis. . .on going, as she will need constant replacements as she outgrowths the original prosthesis!

But, nothing will replace her hands and feet.

    What?

I don't want a long lingering death. Why the heck would anybody want to get their death extended?

And the article has nothing to do with dying.

I am certain that, if it applies, this argument will be used by the defense attorney! In the mean time, we only have one fact. . . and it is that the little child waited for 5 hours to receive care, you can write a book with the rest, but it is not fact!

Still, I am not a health care professional, but there is NO WAY I would let a 2 year old child with high fever wait for care for 5 hours. A 2 year old child IS fragile also!

I remember learning about the flesh eating bacteria in nursing schoo first semester. Where the fuck were THESE nurses? In the linen closet with the prof or a doctor, no doubt!~

Yours, too is an inappropriate response. There is NO justification for this. They all need to lose their licenses.

Of course my thread has been perused by 22 people bent on making sure I am PC.

That's exactly it, no one in his/her right mind would want their death to be extended. . .and that baby didn't even have a mind. . .never did!

Sunshine was making the comparison between the outrage about Canadian hospital NOT keeping this brain death baby alive and the care (or lack of care for 5 hours) the 2 year old girl received in this emergency room.

Actually there ARE quite a number of people who want every possible thing done including heroics. I have read hundreds if not thousands of health care POAs. You cannot generalize YOUR wishes to everyone else.

your right every child that goes into the er with a fever has flesh eating bactireia,
so great perfect nurse that you are how many flesh eating cases have you seen in your career? it sounds like you must have seen tens of thousands.
but according to this it is very rare

so when a child comes in with a fever you go it is a very rare flesh eating bactireia we need to get them in before everyone else lmfao.

the reason why i am thinking it was busy is because the law suit says it was understaffed.
i dont know how big the town is that they went to but i know from the hospital that i worked at years ago if you came in at midnight you had the dr the nurse and a er tech that is it. so if you had a heart attack, a car accident, and a girl with a fever guess what the girl with the fever will wait.
we dont know the facts all we have is what the parents say and even they dont say if it was busy, and for sunshine to try and say this shows how bad us health care is is just lame.

Actually, ever child that goes to the ER does NOT have flesh eating bacteria. But every nurse is supposed to recognize it.

really how? with their magic eyes?

    How is necrotizing fasciitis diagnosed?

The doctor will diagnose your infection based on how suddenly your symptoms started and how quickly the infection is spreading. The infected tissue may be tested for bacteria. You also may need X-rays, a CT scan, or an MRI to look for injury to your organs or to find out how much the infection has spread

so i guess you can take a vital and know right away what the problem is but everyone else in the world needs more tests.

Thank you for your generous response.

Maybe you should have taken the time to read to the last sentence. Obviously this child's life will not be easy. But at least she is alive, and although the millions will not replace what she lost, it will make it easier for her to reach her full potential. This would not be the case in many other countries or if she had lost her hands and feet with no recourse for some monetary compensation.

I believe in people with disabilities. Maybe because I KNOW they can live a full life and they DON't like being judged by their disabilities.

You are letting your distaste of me get in the way of your reasoning.

They can't live a full life if you kill them. In defense of killing disabled human beings you wrote, "do you care enough to do something about that child (if that child is unwanted, or severely disabled, of if the mother is unable to care for the child because of her station in life) after the birth?"
I don't know what the term is in Austrian.
