Some of your rambling in this thread is just so ignorant that it is ridiculous.

For instance, you said that Primatene mist is not a treatment of asthma. And you call that a "fact". Do you have any proof of that patently absurd claim? You simply don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

The fact of the matter is it was developed as a treatment for asthma and it has been used to treat asthma by millions of people.

In other words it is made for the symptomatic treatment of asthma.

In other words, it is essentially useless for any major asthma problem. If you are actually using these to avert potential death as you allege, you are taking an incredibly foolish chance with your health over a matter which would likely cost you less than a hundred dollars to see a legitimate doctor who can prescribe something far more effective.

Of course, if we had universal healthcare like virtually all other modern countries it wouldn't cost you a penny. Another alternative would be to go to Canada or some other modern country where pharmacists can usually dispense prescription medicine such as this without even a doctor's signature.

No, or they would have said it that way. What a terrible gamble with one's own life.

There's going to be a lot of jonsing adrenaline addicts come Jan 1. This is one of those OTC products that is very easily and very often abused. Of course, everyone that abuses it THINKS they have a legitimate need for it... but someone going through an inhaler every 2-3 days obviously has a condition that can't be effectively treated with this drug and has simply become accustomed to the epinephrine burst.

The Obama administration continues their war against the American people by pulling the only OTC asthma inhaler off the shelves.

Thousands of people use Primatine to instantly stop acute asthma attacks. And now to get an inhaler for asthma they will have to pay a doctor and buy a prescription inhaler that costs significantly more than Primatine.

What a bunch of fucking assholes. This decision could cause many Americans to die from asthma attacks.
Ironic, teapublicans have proposed numerous 'job bills' that will eviscerate the Clean Air Act, allow dirty coal plants to circumvent installing pollution control technology that Bush let them get away with for 8 years.

    Coal's Assault on Human Health

Coal combustion releases mercury, particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, and dozens of other substances known to be hazardous to human health. This report looks at the cumulative harm inflicted by those pollutants on three major body organ systems: the respiratory system, the cardiovascular system, and the nervous system. The report also considers coal’s contribution to global warming, and the health implications of global warming.

Face it, Obama and his administration are a bunch of fascist assholes. And they have a deep-seated hatred for Americans. Plain and simple.
I happen to know that Obama's asshole is not fascist. See, fascists have national pride, and no where did his asshole show any sense of patriotism. I think it is safe to conclude that his asshole is merely an asshole.

No, thats where your wrong. You obviously don't have asthma and no very little about what your talking about. Primatene can be used to avert potential asthma attacks. I have had asthma my whole life. Primatene is a great alternative to trying to chase down prescription versions of essentially the same thing. I had prescription inhalers for years and I only came across one that was actually worth a damn. It was an absolute nightmare to get because doctors didn't want to prescribe it for whatever reason, I guess because it actually was useful. They would only write me a prescription for no refills and when I ran out the whole process of multiple doctor visits would start over and then back through all of the other "new" inhalers they wanted me to try. It was ridiculous. I discovered Primatene when I was about 10 years old. It wasn't as good as the prescription that worked the best, but it worked better than the other inhalers the doctors would try to shove down my throat and I have been using Primatene ever since. Primatene is a little expensive compared to other over the counter drugs but I could buy about 3 or 4 inhalers and be good for the year and sometimes longer. It eliminated all of the fuss about trying to get prescriptions written and filled and countless hours in the doctors office.

Not everybody is oh so fortunate to be within minutes of a doctors office in the event of an asthma attack and not everybody can afford to pay thousands of dollars for 2 hours in the ER (and thats with health insurance by the way). If Primatene is a reliable source, which I can personally vouch that it is, that can help prevent most common asthma attacks then it should be made available to the public. Period. The government is banning it because they believe the cfcs in the inhaler are eating a hole in ozone, what a bunch of horse shit. If you are one of those who believes that an asthma inhaler is eating a hole in the ozone then you are too stupid to talk to. This bunch of yay hoos up there are out of control. Secondly, why the hell would you ban something like these that so many people depend on without already having a substitute on the market? Since when do people, especially in potentially life or death situations, come second to the damn ozone layer? Then again I come to expect things like this from the particular people who are running the show and I don't mean political parties. I'm talking about the actual individuals themselves.

Just about all inhalers have already changed their propellant with the result that their retail prices have just about tripled. But I concur with the ruling. If everybody in America used their Primatene inhalers at the same time (imagine the tonnage), a dandelion somewhere would probably die.

    Re: Obama's war on asthmatics

I do not believe that this POTUS (in fact, any POTUS in the past) has studied a specific drug and has single handedly made a decision to remove a specific drug from over the counter distribution.
    Two things about this issue:

    1) the agreement was made at the behest of the pharmaceutical companies. The retail price on some of their new inhalers is approaching $300 and they can do without low cost non-prescription alternatives.

    2) all the chlorofluorohydrocarbons in all the inhalers in the world, in continuous use for a 1000 years, couldn't make a dent in the in the ozone layer.

    This thread is hilarious.

Preferably, I say to hell with all asthmatics. I wasn't going to vote for Obama, but now that he has a "war on asthmatics" [a people I despise vociferously], it's now assured my ballot will be cast for the Big O.
