Anyway I take it as a compliment, as Germans are usually not considered to be funny or to be humerous

Self-hating Jews? Philip Roth has made fortune writing about them but let me repeat, it is possible to be critical of zionism as an idea without siding with the forces of terrorism in Palestine and all over the Arab world. That is not what we see today however, not in the academy nor in the press.

What acedemy or press are you talking about?

The time the Palestinians got praise for their terrorits actions in the 70's is long over and apart from a Jewish holocaust/Warsawa ghetto suvrivor like Marek Edelmann (died recently) I can't think about anyone advocating/advising their resistance course.

Hell they are the forgotten fuckheads of history and have chosen the wrong path long ago and due to their semitic heritage are unable to change it ( just like their counterparts, the extreme Jewish settler terrorists).

Jew hatred is an interesting phenomenon in itself. I don't think any other logical abberation has persisted through time with such tenacity. Since most caucasian anti-semites today live in post-Christian Europe it is impossible to attribute their hate to simple religious bigotry. I'm at a loss to explain it.
A lot of it, particularly from the 'New Left', is a result of old Soviet Cold War memes, wherein is conflated with opposition to the Viet Nam war; because the U.S. took over from France as Israel's arms supplier, they suddenly started lumping in the Israeli defeat of the illegal Arab League occupation as just another manifestation of American Imperialism'. Before 1967, the Left was generally supportive of Israel. The same mentality exists no matter what the issues right up to today. You see the obvious ignorance on their part in this thread; they can't refute the historical record, so they're stuck with repeating the same ridiculous memes over and over again.

This reason I posted this in the history forum was to avoid the usual spamming and innuendo that goes on with the threads in the Kiddie forums upstairs, but obviously some of them are incapable of the distinctions between forums; they have yet to post anything worth noting or even reading as a refutation, as you can see.

As for the right wing memes, they're the same as they've always been, so nothing historically new there, just different attempts at reviving the reputation of Hitler, via such losing propaganda ploys as holocaust denial and of course pretending to 'discredit Zionism', as they can blend in better with the later.

This article has a decent rundown on the 'New Left' and it's sudden 'change of heart':

Quote:
*

After the reunification of Germany, 1989 surveys indicated that there was much more anti-Semitism in West Germany than in East Germany. This was a fallacy arising from the distinction between anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism. Since then, Eastern German "anti-Zionism" has merged with Western German "anti-Semitism" into a homogeneous whole.
*

Since 2000, the German Left has voiced its solidarity and support for the Palestinians and for suicide bombers. This is an extension of the New Left anti-Zionism of the 1960s, with the same structural motifs and expressions.
*

There is also a major trend in the German Left of Nazifying and demonizing Israel, opening the door to proclaiming Jews to be the source of the world's evils.
Being Leftist and Anti-Semitic in Germany

... and more. IT applies as well the 'New Left' everywhere else as well, as it is the same pattern.

Most of it is merely ideological fashion, with the purveyors completely ignorant of the source of the nonsense they're spreading; they just want to be part of 'The Club', and could less of the accuracy or truth of the stuff they spread.

They be Fightin' Da MAN!!!!! N stuff, you know ...

German humor is considered very dry in comparison with American humor, so most of the time we miss it.

Yes, there are several kinds of Zionism, to be accurate, and some of them are definitely not supportable. The versions that have made immigrating to Israel a viable solution were entirely peaceful, and there isn't a lot to criticize; the problems have been with jealous, bigoted, genocidal Arabs and other Muslims.

The standards of both have dropped drastically since the massive grade inflation of the 1960's in the U.S.; I can't speak for the rest of the world's lack of critical thinking on the issues surrounding the Arabs' inability to grow up.

i stand corrected. in technicality, the destruction, murder, and theft began with columbus and his thugs. (if you love racial violence, the firsthand accounts of his men will toot your flute)

the destruction, murder, and theft ended circa 1875 or so, when the demise of the native was painfully obvious.

that is not to say, that different natives were not destroyed quicker in other circumstances. that is more of a broad timeline.

Picaro, I'm old enough to remember when the left was supportive of Israel. I was dumbfounded going into the 1970's as left extremists silenced the moderates and led the left into what has emerged as a particulary obstinate, anti-intellectual and may I say degenerate form of support for Palestinian terrorism. It wasn't clear to me until I got on the internet in the mid 1990's that leftist support for Palestinian terrorism was buttressed by a large helping of anti-Semitism. Before the internet I was simply too isolated to see it. I was niave enough to think that anti-semitism was on its way to the ash heap of history. Should have known better. I'm older and a little wiser now.

Thanks for the jcpa link. I'll be reading through that in the next few days.
