A Question For Christians...

Since this question was completely ignored in another thread, I'm going to ask it here.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement: "There is no god but the christian god, our father in heaven".

Personally, I don't know how a true follower of the faith could disagree with it.

If you'd be so kind, thanks...

Re: A Question For Christians...

You're right i agree with the statement. As the Apostles creed says "I believe in one God, the father, the almighty, creator of Heaven and Earth."

Your sig will convince many that your intent is not to get a real answer to a real question but to pick a fight. In any case the question is so broad, the terms so vague, and the implications so significant that I don't see what useful information you can expect.

Since not all Christians can agree on the exact nature of the "Christian God" the people who claim him as the only God will still have disagreements.

Since faith is a completely subjective and variable thing - even in the same person, never mind over a number of Christians - the varying strength of the belief that the Christian God is the only one will result a wide range of dependent beliefs and behaviors.

Even if one believes the Christian God is the only God that does not address the status of the Jewish or the Moslem or even the Zoroastrian God. Are these people worshipping the same God under a different name with the only liturgy they know? Or are these people chasing illusions which will send them to hell?

In the end I think a discussion framed in the terms you've proposed will always produce more heat than light.

The reason I posted the question is due to the fact that Kinetic (aka "Dodge") has said that Muslims do not believe in god because the first words they speak are "There is no god". Of course, Dodge omits the remainder of the statement. I've simply offered a version, directed towards christians...

Most, if not all, of the statements I've read here concerning god are pretty consistent...

Are there christians who believe in more than one god? Are there those who worship different gods?

Your point is well taken.

However, if you re-read the question, you'll see it's directed to christians, as it is only the christian perspective I'm curious about...

Honestly, there's no real need for discussion. It's a "yes" or "no" question. You either agree with it or you don't...

I think there's only one God, but as far as I'm concerned, Muslims etc. worship the same one as me.

So who created the hell he sends us to when we sin? I think it's Lucifer, but that makes two creators.

If your intent is to pin Kinetic down to some set of rational statements and their logical conclusions then your quest is even more vain than I thought. I believe you are making the fundamental mistake of assuming that he actually posseses the wherewithal or the desire to define a rational basis for his posts. Whatever twisted purpose his presence here serves it is decidedly not a rational one. And you will find it difficult to make that any more obvious than he does himself

If you are getting consistant statements regarding the nature of God from people at this site then I suspect you are listening only to a very small subset with decidedly fringe views. If those people are the targets of this thread then you don't have to be karnak to know where this is headed.

He actually said that? Talk about selective...wowieeee!

There is no God but Allah.

There is no God but God.

Muslims believe in the same God as Christians and Jews do. They just disagree on the prophet...

Hehehehe... Yeah, you may be right...

What I notice about his posts is the absence of any other christian comment when he says something outlandish. It certainly gives the impression that a good number of christians here believe exactly as he does, and that's pretty disturbing...

So god creates us... when his creations don't work right, he sends them to hell? How loving... It's his own damn fault for creating such flawed beings. Why isn't he being punished for being a shitty inventor?

Alright God could have created us to be like the rocks and trees which Jesus says "would sing of the glory of God if you did not" but he did not want a robot. Creation itself glorifies God automatically. God wanted creations that would choose to follow him and worship him out of their own free will. Its not even when his creations don't work, we all don't work, we are all sinful (Christians and non-Christians alike). Rejecting God is what the hell worthy offense is, not being sinful. Having faith is the only thing that achieves salvation. And Yes he is loving beyond anyones comprehension. He gave his son so that the rest of us might be saved. Paul says "we might give our lives for a righteous man, but how many of you would give you life for an unrighteous man?" God owes us nothing because he created us and we owe God everything.

And people will answer this question asked by one who puts this:

So many christians, so few lions...

in his sig WHY ?

That your hatred for Christians is so loud and clear and obvious isn't going to stimulate many Christians into ANSWERING you in any serious way(s).

Maybe maybe NOT.

Here's your answer from ME.

If there is a God there is a God. Beyond that I know nothing. All I can do is keep an open mind and LOOK.

Something you and others seem unwilling to do.

No, you busy yourselves expressing your hatred for people that identify themselves as Christians.

I'd suggest a new hobby. Here's MINE:

Snakes

Find SOMETHING else to do besides spit venom and hatred at people who hold certain views. Views that differ from your own. Everyone can't be as full of nastiness as you like to be.

I worship the Christian God however, I don't believe that only those that worship my God are correct. American Indians worshiped many gods but the one thing they all had in common was that they were all things that God had made, such as the sun, moon and stars. The Indians seemed to acknowledge that there was a higher being, even if they didn't call him God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Other religions worship God, though not through the same means as Christians do. I just don't think that all those people will end up in hell for not worshipping as I do.

Re: A Question For Christians...

I don't even know why I bothered to read this....Every thread about religion always ends up being bullshit..

To answer Steve's question though; Yes, I believe that there is only one God.
IMO, the problem is that the various religious sects spun God to meet their expectations or needs.
