You know, I rarely speak in anyone's defense. But, I cannot recall Samantha ever attacking anyone with a spew of vitriol. I simpy cannot recall it. Doesn't mean it's never happened, but I've been on this board for several months now & have never seen it.

What I do see on a consistent basis is a lot of people calling Samantha names like:

-ignorant
-stupid
-clueless
-retarded
-dumbass
-etc.

And again, not once have I seen her retort in kind. It's as if she doesn't see it at all & simply moves on.

Like she said, perhaps we could use some manners. So long as I'm excused, you bunch of bleeping bleeps.

I thought I saw a few car names in there - Opel made an Ascona - I bet that didn't sell too well in Spain.

I think banning certain words is dumb ; banning a sound that you larynx makes is absurd.

They should start charging fines for people farting in public, which sounds reasonable.

I don't think you read your own post. The S word they are referring to is squaw, not shit.
Sam, this is not the same as when the word 'nigger' was removed from certain places around the country a few decades ago. Everyone knows what 'nigger' is and its continuing derogatory intent. This 'squaw' thing was a copycat by a few Native American 'activists' looking for a reason to be offended IMO by claiming it is really sexist to Native American women. The objection apparently comes from a questionable attribution that the word was originally a French Canadian corruption of an Algonquin word for the female genitals. The attribution is not 100% assured, and its centuries-long usage as a different word for a different meaning has long made the meaning of that dubious attribution obsolete from the git-go centuries ago. I'm quite sure anyone can dust off history books to find historically intricacies such as that but the point is that the term does not mean what the self-inflicted cross bearers would like it to mean.

The most comical of these types was PETA calling for the name of Fishkill, New York to be changed due to its 'violent nature.' The fanatics didn't even bother to learn that the word 'kill' is a corrupted spelling of an obsolete Dutch word for 'river' and is seen plentifully around the former Dutch colony of New Netherlands (e.g., Schuylkill in Pennsylvania, Peekskill, Catskill and Fresh Kills in New York, etc).

Pennsylvania, especially in the Amish Country, has alot of provocative names too, such as Intercourse, Blue Ball, Climax, etc. The reasons why, though, have nothing to do with sex. I'm sure this exists elsewhere, and I know Canada has a town called Dildo and France called Condom, etc. People can play map games and feigning offence all day if they are that bored and strained to carry a cross of some sort.

I USED to get pissed off and fight back, but I got in a lot of trouble with the mods and admins, so I stopped. I realize now, it just makes the insulters look even more stupid when we let them spew their hate without acknowledging it

Whether or not squaw means cunt, it's still a degrading word used by men to keep women 'down'. It certainly is the same, to a native american woman as nigger is to a black man.

Nah. Not anywhere close. I hear almost no Native Americans whinging over that word, just the tiny but noisy ones--as all types like that are--who are looking to feather up a problem that doesn't exist to get attention. Does that mean that I would call someone a squaw as ordinary language? No, and it is not intended to be used that way either in contemporary usage. Today it is more or less an archaic word in almost complete disuse. When and where I've heard it used in context, and it is extremely rare, it is a term of endearment as I've seen it used to women who have native blood by their boyfriends or spouses or close friends to get a laugh or smile from them and others in a light conversation. It's no different than 'paddy' for an Irishman. There is a mountain in Pennsylvania called Paddy Mountain. Shall I make that a cause celebre too? Or go after the Notre Dame moniker and leprechaun for being an ugly stereotype? Quite frankly I'd doubt any person that anal to make a fuss over such things could possibly be Irish.

Yeah - I thought the site was something of a hoot - doing my best to improve vocabulary in intimate situations!

Here is the point I think a lot of people miss. No matter how disgusting it is to call a person a(N-word) or b**ch etc. People are granted the right to do so under the constitution. Now while government has an obligation to grant people their rights society can (and should) discourage such things as racism, disrespect, and the words that are associated with those things.

Hear, hear. Very good post. (Although racism is a personal belief of yours).

Why is it that you fuckin reptilian republican jackasses spout the party line to the point of puke - and why do you have such little idea of common courtesy?
