Does it not make sense to point out the stupidities of both extreme sides of an issue ?

Or would you have us only pay attention to the stupidities of one SIDE ?

There certainly hasn't been any shortage of people pointing out the stupidities and hypocrisies of religious people.

Why should we not point out the stupidities and hypocrisies of another religion (this neo-atheism) ?

Why does it seem as if you'd rather this not even be mentioned ? You're asking ME if I'M experiencing some kind of frustration. I have to wonder if YOU are.

I think I'd rather see fewer "Look how stupid people like X are!" threads in general, actually. I feel that just living life already confronts me with more stupidity than I care for; I hardly feel the need to have others dredge up examples that I was fortunate enough to miss.

In sense, yes. Somewhat frustrated by the number of discussions meant only to highlight some other party's flaws. I go in thinking that perhaps there's some point to these things, some novel perspective, something new to consider, some thoughtful debate to partake in, or some development of which I should (for some practical reason) be aware.
But yet again none of that appears to be the case, it's just another shallow rant filled with broad generalizations. And that is a little frustrating. The only amusing feature here is that your shallow generalizing rant is ironically about someone else's shallow generalizing rant.

But since the fastest means to end that frustration is to move along, I will do so. I just wanted to double check that there really wasn't anything of useful or enjoyable substance here before I did so.

Re: Evangelists of unbelief ....

So Thane, this thread is about Dawkins then?

Then perhaps you should be more succinct rather than start out with "atheist bullshit".

I'm game. Why don't you go ahead and start us off with some things Dawkins says in his book(s) with which you disagree.

So, you found nothing of value in this thread.

Yet decided to add your OWN "generalizing rant".

Pretty pointless eh ? Why did you waste your energy ?

There could even be atheists lurking in the U.S. Congress, according to Dawkins. "Highly intelligent people are mostly atheists," he says. "Not a single member of either house of Congress admits to being an atheist. It just doesn't add up. Either they're stupid, or they're lying. And have they got a motive for lying ? Of course. Everybody knows that an atheist can't get elected."

Well it might but you don't know unless you actually ...you know... get the word from the horses mouth as they say.

Re: Evangelists of unbelief ....

So it is confirmed then eh Thane? You really do think that Phelps is 100% representative of all Christians?

That's what your argument adds up to. Dodge and insult away.

Dodger accuses others of dodging

Have you even bothered reading what I've been saying ?

Let me answer my own question.

"No."

Re: Evangelists of unbelief ....

I agree with White Rabbit. You make sweeping generalising statements, yet asked by others to provide logical answers you revert to insults. Taking your lead (as you clearly are trying to be the moral guardian of us all) at generalising, I am going to begin holding Phelps up as the spokesperson for ALL Christians. PHELPS FOR POPE I say.
