For me, I think it might have to be if the national government ever imposed a complete firearm restriction. It seems that when this was done in the past, it resulted in a lot of death.
If the government knuckles under to the religious freaks and requires everyone to recognize a religion. They are close to doing it now, but they are not quite there yet. Prayer in school and posting the ten commandments in public buildings is just such a recognition and totally unconstitutional!

I can't think of any law that would make me "take up arms" against the government. If necessary, I might refuse to comply with a truly evil law. If the government then decides to take up arms against me, well, I suppose I'll defend myself. But they should have to make the first violent move.
In short: Counter legislation with legislation. Only use violence to counter violence (if absolutely necessary).
But really, I'd be much more likely to just start applying for citizenship elsewhere first. Maybe Australia...

Re: What is your boiling point?

Everyone is three missed meals away from armed revolt.
That's a universal truth, other than that, almost anything is bearable.
This rhetoric about prying a gun from your cold dead hands is BS.
When such laws get passed, law abiding people turn in their weapons, only the criminals keep them, and they can be dealt with one at a time. (That's what SWAT teams are for).

But go a day without food, and you'll be ready to do whatever is necessary.

What? They didn't overthrow Great Britain! In case you missed it, Great Britain is still around.
They just refused to obey British rule and made it so difficult and expensive for the British to enforce their sovereignty that they eventually just said "to hell with this!", gave up, and went home.

From my university grad-study days, we all had very low opinions of MBA programs and their academic integrity.

As my uncle says (a VP at American Express), "we need a VP just to manage MBA egos".

I doubt it. Such action would violate the Posse Comitatus Act and would be thus be illegal.
