But now they say the number is actually 616.

Numerous websites be damned.

Re: More then one correct religion?

to each his own..

I do realise that no one wants to believe what I have to say.
And thats quite alright... I realise most people will think I am crazy or bigoted...

So the question is, shall I continue providing evidence for my claim?

Or shall I just accept that no one wants to believe it...

I think Ill chose the later..

Re: More then one correct religion?

"Wants to believe"?

Ever since you've started your new "Nostradamus" act, you've spewed nothing but nonsense, with a healthy mix of arcane nonsense. People don't "want" or "want not" to believe you - it isn't a matter of belief - it's a matter of you making no sense.

So, I think the option "accept that no one 'wants' to believe" is probably a good one, though I'd amend it to say "accept that pretending to be a prophet is silly."

Re: More then one correct religion?

I am not a prophet.. I am just a person who has good attention to detail... with an interest in theology..

If the bible says that the anti christ will come on a white horse to conquer.

and Islam states the mahdi will come ride in on a white horse and restore islam to its glory..

I pick up on it. Perhaps its a curse.. I dont know..

Now, now, let's not be narrow-minded; it could easily be both

That's probably a sound decision. I think for someone to be convinced by your evidence they'd have to already agree with your view on so many issues that they'd probably have already made the same connection(s) you did. I doubt you'll see many people here so akin to you in conviction.

I would say "best of luck", but, to be honest, I don't really want you to have much success in convincing anyone of this perspective. Sorry.

Personally I look for evidence of divine inspired.. which by that I look for prophecies the religion holds that have come true.. If there is enough evidence then I will take a look further..
( so it can be just some random guy who starts his own religion..)

Then I look to see how compatible it is with christianity.. and whether or not it would offend God....

Basically if it advocates good deeds and believes in a single God, and does not promote evil, and does not commit blasphemy against the God of Abraham.. I consider it to be a possible true religion..

As far as I know from the extent of my research on them possible true religions could be Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, and some native American religions like the Hopi. ,

I believe it is possible that all these religions hold genuine truths about the world.

It is an abomination to eat shellfish. People pick and choose which parts of all religions they choose to adhere too. Usually, they choose the parts that reinforce their existing or preconceived opinions. The title of the threa should have actually been "no religion is correct", as who among us is as arrogant to suggest that my personal belief is somehow superior or inferior to yours? The very fact that people do believe that is why the world is in such a state, and why religion is arguably the most divisive instrument ever conceived by man.
People also pick and chose what they see as negative things about a religion. The killing of people working on the sabbath and the abomination of eating shellfish is described in the Old Testament, but both of these rules were changed by latter teachings of the New Testament. The New Testament is the most important part of the Christian Bible. It is wrong to critizise Christianity by refering to Old Testament rules that are no longer in effect thanks to the teachings in the New Testament.

Agreed, but you missed my point. Metalted was focusing on specific aspects of the Koran that portrayed it in a bad light; I was merely doing the same with The Bible. My point was that all religions have their good points and bad points and it is unfair to single out one religion and focus solely on its bad points and ignoring the good ones; whilst at the same time focusing solely on your religions good points and ignoring the bad ones.

Thinking laterally for a moment, could it not also be said of the same of Christianity (note, I don't necessarily believe what I am saying, but am trying to play "devil's advocate [no pun intended] to point out the folly of your argument.)? What I mean is couldn't Christianity be a disguised tool of the devil given the amount of deaths and killing that has resulted from it over the history of time? From the time before Christ, through to The Crusades, and through to the modern persecution of individuals because they don't adhere to the "moral" code of its religious teaching? If the devil's aim was to create a world based on hating each other wouldn't religion (including Christianity) be a great tool?

Simply by using this thread as an example you are proving that you are not a loving and tolerant person. You are an example (by using your words right here) of why I abhor organised religion (as opposed to personal religious belief), and why I believe it is the most evil and divisive creation ever conceived by man.

You have admitted yourself that you dont really believe the arguement you are making. All the good religions in the world dont say that we should conquer nonbelievers and kill them.. Which is why I leave Islam out of this catagory. Any serious student of history will find that the crusades were a defensive manuever not an offensive. The eastern christian empire was under threat from collapse by Jihad. You can believe what you like...

I believe there are cosmic forces at work with each major war...some forces that drive men mad. Why is Putin acting so irrationally? Why so suddenly so many men blow themselves up all around the world...? This is not the nature of man. We are rational..when we kill we kill for rational reasons, its the irrational we have to be afraid of... those whose logic and moral code is not clearly defined...

I believe there is a power that makes men go to nonsensicle wars, bloodshed that defies all logic.. and this is satan. Who creates religions, ideologies, influences powers that be to bring the wrong men into power...They have always said since long before.. that the devil had a silver tongue...Like adolf in his masterfull speeches that drove men into a frenzy...like many radical clerics inspiring legions to massmurder....

Consider this a warning, and not a proof of my hate. I have never claimed to be perfect,
....If you dont want to accept it.. you wont but if you do.. then you should pray for nations, leaders and soldiers to make the right decisions and avoid as much casualties as possible in the coming war.

I did understand that that was your point, but I believe you made it in the wrong way. There are aspects of Christianity that can be described as negative, but not all of your examples, since they are not really aspects of Cristianity.
