How pathetic that you not only don't show any outrage for the wife-beaters, you try projecting your piss-poor judgement onto me.I think a lot of us have your number when it comes to women's isssues. ![]() [edit] *Chirp, chirp, chirp...* [/edit]

Re: This Is Mind Boggling...
The Sharia courts would trump UK law if, and only if, resort to them means that no action can be taken in a British court that would override any ruling made by the Sharia court. Since the women referred to withdrew their charges in court against their husbands in a separate action from the Sharia court's ruling, clearly that's not the case. If they had wanted to, they could have continued to press charges and, if I'm not mistaken, the British court's ruling, not that of the Sharia court, would have been the final binding decision.
I share the general outrage against misogynistic Muslim law and culture; however, the fault here does not, I think, lie in British law. Incidentally, I was myself a victim in an abusive marriage. (No, it's not always the man who's the culprit.) So I have absolutely no patience with domestic violence. |

No it's not the man who is the perp; and it's good to see a man who is man enough to mention it. I'm glad you got away from it, too.

Re: This Is Mind Boggling...
That's the annoying thing - it isn't 'the muslims' or any other religion.... it's those to think it is their job to be offended on behalf of muslims. It sure isn't the Muslims themselves - most of whom couldn't give a rats behind about the stuff that they are 'offended' by.

Re: This Is Mind Boggling...
Certainly can. I have several friends who are Muslim!
Obviously, I'm not going to name them on an internet forum.

You weren't talking about Muslims:

As it turned out, the Muslim community didn't really give a damn about the practice, yet your press said they did. I think that may be the type of situation to which CG was referring, just for example.
