I have seen images of the picture (haven't made it to China, yet). It's like many dictatorial socieities - pictures of the Dear Leader who is supposed to be worshipped like a god, yet clearly is a fallible human.

They do? Your right theres no need to challange to system to live a fufilling life, I don't doubt that, but the question is; could the lives of millions be better if you did? Could a disaster be avoided if the state had been held accountable? How do you know the answer if you can't ask the question? How do you know there isn't a better way of doing things if you're not allowed to look.

of course we also know knowledge and learning if stifled will limit the individual and the country. There is no intention to stifle knowledge and learning. In fact knowledge and learning is very encouraged....what we want is the right knowledge, right learning and the ship of state moving nicely along., all united, how nice.!

Now, again who decides whats the right knowledge and the right learning? Its always nice to be united and on the way front foot but I really doubt that a) You are truely united and b) If you are united then the state stays efficent. Ive never encountered good knowledge and bad knowledge before; knowledge is netural and you should find out as much as you can before deciding yourself. You sadly don't have this chance.
