According to the drafters of the law, yes.

I dont claim to understand it.

I am merely quoting what it is that these so called mental health professionals are saying. In this case, the same mental health professionals that voted to declare homosexuality no longer a mental disorder decades ago, are making the same arguments they made regarding homosexuality then, now with pedophilia. Essentially, like with homosexuality, its not a mental disorder, its normal and is a sexual orientation, just like heterosexuality. And any mental disorder associated with the alternative sexual orientation, is not due to the alternative orientation, but instead because of societies reaction to it.

Again, a wholly artificial argument. In other words, who decided that social norms cannot change in some areas and can in others? You?

That's a good question but I would take issue with it.

Why? The individual isn't harming anyone and there are plenty of other people around you with equally distasteful mindsets.

'Society' determines when social norms change, and when they don't. Society determined that it was ok for blacks and whites to integrate; society has determined that homosexuality is not a crime; society has determined that pedophilia is a crime.

I'm not sure whether you're just being deliberately obtuse, or whether you really don't understand the issue that you're engaging in.

True. So why do you get all worked up about people who say it's OK for homosexuals to be gay as long as they don't have sex with men?

Oh, so in societies that are OK with pedophilia or who believe in slavery, that's OK? Just checking.

You're very good at putting words in people's mouths aren't you. You stated earlier:

I simply answered your question with a factual response. You didn't like the response so you revert to an attempt to bait by insinuating that I support paedophillia and slavery. I've actually realised something here - the answer to the question "who decides that social norms cannot change in some areas but change in others" is ... CBM. Clearly you believe that anyone who doesn't agree explcitly 100% with you is wrong. They don't have a different opinion, they're just wrong. That's an excellent foundation for starting a discussion about political and social issues.

Who said I didn't like the response? I'm completely impartial. The only thing I ever demand is that you remain consistent with your own argument. I asked a question and you answered it. Then I used your own argument and asked you how you liked it. Clearly, all you have to do is say that, yes, if society says that slavery is good or pedophilia is acceptable, then they are. That would be consistent with your own argument. And, hey, if you can't buy your own argument, then why should I?

The problem is you realized you just owned yourself, so now you're getting melodramatic and acting outraged. Don't blame me, blame yourself.
