Stupidity of society and color of ones skin

Dark skin is also a problem among African-Americans - CNN.com

You would think that if you are Black you would be proud to be black and proud of that skin color. According to the article and studies released that simply is not true.

This a very sad state of affairs considering we live in the 21st century. As someone who has never seen color as what makes someone who they are it bothers me greatly. When I was young, I dated black women and other skin colors as well as white. For some reason I always believed that a black woman was much sexier and in many ways more mysterious than a white woman. I found out that my mother and father were both closet bigots when they met a woman I wanted to marry. Sadly they were the cause of us splitting up, they made it so rough on me for dating her that I had to choose between them and my family or her and stupidly I did leave her. I wonder sometimes what my life would have been like if I had left my family instead.

Either way this is wrong, what they are showing in the article. Color of the skin does not make your dumb or smart, beautiful or ugly. Only the person inside that skin can do that.

You have to visit your closest Black neighborhood to know where they're coming from.
And I don't mean the neighborhood where they just built the 3 million dollar library.
Go where the driveways have broken crack comcaine bottles.

    And then hire a business-visa.

You mean 1/2 block down the street from me in the dead end of my street in the middle of a small city in Massachusetts? Or like Detroit where I lived for almost 10 years?

Actress Juliet Aubrey as Dorothea Brooke in the acclaimed PBS production of George Eliot’s Middlemarch (1994)

Beauty is an ephemeral thing; and often only skin deep. People are rarely what they appear to be; and a pretty face is often a mask for a heart of darkness. A truly beautiful person is one who is virtuous - whose character shines with goodness. A person’s physical beauty will fade and die and turn to dust; but a virtuous character will shine bright for a lifetime, and live on in the memory of others.

Actually, even in Africa light is associated with goodness and beauty and darkness with ugliness and evil. It's a universal human trait. No matter what the country's ethnic makeup, chances are the lighter-skinned group is holding onto the high ground in terms of social and political status. Even within Europe, land of the white man, this has always been true.

I can't remember where I listened/heard it but there was a story about how a lot of blacks who also get nose surgery to make a thinner, more Caucasian like, nose. That and how lighter skinned black is preferred over darker.

    Sure T,
Everytime I ask you how many Americans you use I get no answer.

Re: Stupidity of society and color of ones skin

Being an evangelical Christian man, I often have to put up with the neanderthals who want me to believe the same things people like Fred Phelps believe: In arguments, I have to constantly correct misperceptions (based on idiots like that) of what it is to be a Christian male.

Similarly, I don't want to sink into the morass of collective self-pity that suggests this society has not done anything about racism. America has done a lot towards defeating racism but, unfortunately, the media is on the hunt for anything that sells newspapers so any time something like the Martin killing comes up, they hover like vultures over a dead cow in the desert, trying to make the racist in our culture float to the top like a turd in the pool.

Resist, is my counsel. There are those who profit by diminishing us into believing we're all racists.

Resist, but do what you can to fight it if you see it.

Then why does the Bride wear White and the Groom wear Black?

Caucasian breaks, now that is a new one on me.

I can present plenty of anecdotes about Blacks who rose above where they brought up. Sadly one is part of the Democratic machine but he go there on his skill not his color believe it or not.

I also had a friend when I lived in Daytona Beach. He was from Jamaica. One day we were admiring the girls of Spring Break when a couple of black guys came down the beach walking. They saw a white guy and a black guy talking and joking and apparently that bothered them. One of them said to my buddy, "Why are you sitting with that cracker Brother, come along with us while we find some hot babes." to which my friend replied, "I ain't your Brother, I am from Jamaica and my friend and I can cruise for women without your ignorant help" Since both he and I were in good shape and not small, and these three were scrawny and looked like something the cat dragged in, they grumbled some and moved on. This was 1985.

I bring this up because not all blacks are from Africa. Not all blacks believe they are less than others because of their skin tone.

I can also bring in some facts about Graduation, grade point average and such from back in the 50's and 60's.

I guess my big question is this.

With all the Government aid, the affirmative action why is it that those from minority communities which that is supposed to help, has made things worse? How do you hand out for decades to minorities but they seem to slip back rather than move forward. I don't deny that until the 60's blacks were treated by many as second class citizens. Sadly it was the majority not the minority that were like this.

I am damn thankful that for whatever reason, despite the subconscious bigotry of my parents I did not end up with it. Though I will admit to bigotry against Democrats and the Socialist left.

There is absolutely no denying the fact that the Dems have screwed up the Black African community by handing everything to them unconditionally.
That's why those who are in their 50s can speak English and have a profession and those who are younger don't.

I can get a loan or a mortgage, attention in a store in the mall.
In fact, in the mid-late 90s, I was able to get a job on Wall Street when rarely a financial institution would hire a Black programmer.

Personal preference ...... Being from Detroit it wasn't the color of the skin that turned me off it was the attitude. If you ever heard a black women from Detroit talk to her old man it would shock you. They call it being strong but mostly they were just being bitches. Now in my defense I was mostly in the ghetto so they are a different breed from normal folk but it wasn't till I was older before I realized that. Never date a women from the ghetto be her white or black if she thinks she is a stron gwetto woman cause they will say things to you that would make you red with anger.

Now for those of you who are now disgusted and angry..........I just did what this article did only used location and not race........It is absurd and insulting and I do not believe them. That instr to say there isnt women like that LOL we all know there are but you cant lump them all in with the few.

lol You know there aren't a lot of blacks in Maine ... mostly white, anywho I walked into my garage today and my son and a young lady were back to me watching a video on their phone. I thought hey a new girlfriend ... good figure too. Finally she turned around and she was black and a stone cold fox ... and I immediately was kind of hoping for some black grandchildren ... if they are my grandkids WTF is the difference. Course I'm old enough to immediately go there ... cuzz I want some f#$#$ken grandkids now.
