Justice Department officials said their representatives did not threaten or indicate to state officials any federal plans to file a lawsuit.
Nonetheless, Attorney General Eric Holder has left open that possibility. Holder, who was en route to Europe for meetings with his counterparts, has said he is particularly concerned about the potential for racial profiling when the law is implemented. He has also indicated that possible state pre-emption of the federal responsibility for controlling immigration is among issues being examined.

Obama is Executive Branch. This is a judicial issue.
I think it most appropriate that the Judicial Branch is taking this on.
Don't look for resoulution any time soon unless the big O can dictate to the courts too (does he own their sould too?). I'm sure he pissed about having his hand forced into sending a token amount of troops in.

Why, so that they can find a basis for throwing out all laws regarding illegal immigrants? So that they can find a basis for opening the borders to all comers?
If justice REALLY wants to do something they should start going after all the mayors who have declared their cities "Sanctuary Cities" in direct opposition to existing law.
It is unconscionable that DOJ would be finding ways to avoid the rule of law as opposed to enforce it and it's flat out pathetic that so many people in this country endorse that position.
I wonder if Holder finally got around to actually reading the law, or if he's still speaking for the US government about something he hasn't even read.

Do you recognize that this "turf" that is being fought over by the two predominate parties in this country belongs to the American people and NOT the government?
This isn't a matter of which party is in charge. It's a matter of retaining our sovereignty as a people and right now we, the people, are caught between an attempt by Mexico to take over the Southwest by means of a "population bomb" and a US Government that is so into "Globalization" that they actually condone the Mexican process.
It is up to the people of the Southwest, and the rest of America if they choose to support us, to stave off this invasion. Our federal government has REFUSED to enforce the laws which offer us protection. In th4e halls of the US Congress they stand and cheer the man that is sponsoring and invasion of their own country. Is that not outrageous to you? Is it not the least bit disturbing that the politicians in DC are willing to sell out the sovereignty of the Unites States for a few more votes?
Our government, Sunshine, serves only its own purposes. The will and want of the people is only a priority for the political class as long as it can be manipulated to support them. It is past time for the people of this country to rise up and reclaim what is rightfully theirs! The Obama's and the Pelosi's and the McCain's MUST be removed from power and those that replace them MUST be held accountable for putting the interests of America and the American people above the interests of their party.

Sounds like good news to me. Over due. The law is only 10-15 pages long, so it shouldn't take a small army of Federal lawyers to read it and point out explicitly which words/clauses they have concerns about. Then both teams can try to find a happy place together.
