FOXNews.com - Immigrant Deaths in Arizona Desert Soaring in July
If ever there was a reason to close the border it would be to prevent the tragedy in the above link. So my question: Would saving even one life be worth closing the border? I'd say absolutely yes.

You guys are real humanitarians.
The real debate is between what the text of the Constitution means in the modern context and what the spirit of the Constitution means in the modern context. Conjecture on the intention of the Founding Fathers or the context of early American society has no place in the courts.
I could never support Conservative social policies or Neoliberalism/Reaganomics, because I have severe objections to Communism and believe in the Free Market.

If they want to play, they have to pay.
Take a good hard look, it's coming.
And how would you go about "closing" a border, which is basically a desert? There's about 42 official crossings, but there's 2000 miles of border. You'd need about half the army to make it airtight.
Believing that you'd ever be able to stop illegal immigration is a just lying to yourself. And yes, the humane thing to do would be to make sure water is present, they actually already do airdrops by Blackhawk helicopters.
I'm not saying I don't care about illegal immigration, I totally understand it's a serious issue. But 99,9% of those coming across are just people, looking for a better life and future. They're not murderers and rapist. They deserve to get turned back, not to die, if it can be avoided.

Ehh, what? They're not crossing the border for free water and food. They are crossing it for work and a better future.
So no, even if there were water stations in the desert, you wouldn't see any change in the number of illegals, as they sure as hell aren't coming across for refreshments...

I agree. They do not deserve to die, well, some do, the criminals, but not all. But where does their personal responsiblility enter in? If they know they can die from lack of water in the desert, it would be intelligent to stay home in Mexico. Afterall, their decision is what killed them. And that is the way shit like this works. They pay for poor decisons with their own lives. It's a risk they were probably aware of, before coming here illegally.
Well, why do we have a coast guard? If people are stupid enough to get on a boat, miles and miles away from anything, shouldn't they themselves be responsible for their actions and why do we help them? They brought it on themselves.
I agree on principle, that it's their own responsibility that they decided to take a hike through a damn hot desert without any water. That being said, when the solution is so easy (provide water) I'd rather take the humanitarian way out of it and provide that water and ship them back, rather than leave them to die.

I am sure many of them feel so desperate that they look forward to crossing the border as a release from their present life: either they will make it and have a better life, or they will die, and that will be better too.
I have a young friend (American citizen) who is pregnant with the baby of an illegal. They were happy, he worked, they stayed out of trouble, and stayed off the radar. Someone told the cops on him and the local cops picked him up and he was sent back to Mexico. Now the state has a single mother to support, he is coming back as soon as he can (its a loooonnngggg walk, and hitchhiking is a bad choice for an illegal), and America is no better off than we were before he was caught. And you know, they were the one of the happiest couples I have ever known.

and licking his own feces off his fingers as you carry on with your day."
