The Blue Eyed Brothers... And Immigration

    News from The Associated Press

An African-American lawmaker in South Carolina said Tuesday that stricter illegal immigration laws would hurt the state because blacks and whites don't work as hard as Hispanics.

State Sen. Robert Ford made his remarks during a Senate committee debate over an Arizona-style immigration law, eliciting a smattering of nervous laughter in the chamber after he said "brothers" don't work as hard as Mexicans. He continued that his "blue-eyed brothers" don't either.

Once his ancestors were freed from slavery, he said, they didn't want to do any more hard work, so they were replaced by Chinese and Japanese.

"We need these workers here. A lot of people aren't going to do certain type of work in this country," said Ford, D-Charleston. "The brothers are going to find ways to take a break. Ever since this country was built, we've had somebody do the work for us."
Only a Black Democrat could ever get away with saying this... but wait...

The executive director of the state GOP called on Ford to apologize.

"It's abhorrent and incredibly offensive that any elected official would make comments this racist," said executive director Joel Sawyer.

Ford, who ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination last year, said he'd apologize, but he doesn't know what for, or what it would change.
That's true... he pretty much dissed everybody. Of course there is always 'I'm sorry that I was too stupid to shut up and sit down' But hey when both the state GOP and the state NAACP are on you about it...

The state NAACP leader called Ford's wording unfortunate, and that Ford should have spoken in the larger context from the start, rather than further stereotypes.

"All human beings that I know of share both positive and negative traits," said Lonnie Randolph with the South Carolina chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. "All individuals share the same shortcomings."
So... is it now okay to claim Black people are lazy and shiftless? I'm not so sure...

What did he say that was wrong? Hispanic immigrants are harder working than Americans. How many times have we been told that they do the jobs we won't?

When I travel I stay in hotels frequently. In Texas all the maids are Hispanic and most either don't speak English or pretend they don't but when I went home back home to Oklahoma for Christmas all the maids were Caucasian Okies. Once when I was in Florida the maids were all Caucasian but they were from Eastern Europe. So just to make sure I stayed at the hotel in Ok for 4 days and spoke with 4 different maids all Okies just like me. But these are the jobs Americans are too lazy to do. BTW when I was in Mobile all the maids were Afro-Americans again doing those terrible jobs that are beneath Americans.

It's like I've said. The only real time for us to worry about immigration is when it's us escaping to Mexico, and if the pubs get their way it pretty much will be very soon.

It would be difficult in my eyes to find someone who works as hard or effectual as I do. I always felt that my work ethic is second to none. If I were given choices to hire people to work for me, they would be hispanic. The culture they have generally has a strong work ethic, it takes 2 generations for it to dilute into ours. A quick look at our overtime lists, and it is filled in with hispanic names except for a very few. Our workforce is about 50% white, the rest divided, mostly hispanic. Will you work nights? Weekends? 6 days a week? 4 hrs OT 5 days a week? Hoildays? These guys BEG for it. A stack of milk weighs 340lbs, approx 100 is the ave trailer, approx 15 trailers a shift, the product is DRAGGED onto trailers and conveyers with hand held hooks. Can whites work that hard? Yes, some do, I do, we have blacks that do also. But the hispanics are the most dependable, hands down. Call me racist, wrong, crazy, whatever, it's just what I see. I also notice that for some reason, ex-Marines seem to have the ethic, also-just a side note

When I read that the other day I drew the exact same conclusion. That was the first thing that came to mind.

Only a black democrat could say that shit.... If a white democrat said that it be racist, a white republican and it suuuuuurely would be racist but that fool says it and there is no strife?

It really shows how fucked up our society is and how skin color does play a role....

I break my ass in every job I do.

I've worked along side Mexicans in manufacturing (union), hell they were the ones telling me to slow down because they didn't want the production quotas to go up.. I've worked along side Mexicans in construction/contract work (non-union)... Yeah they work hard just like the rest of us did, but to say they worked harder is downright loonacy.

The truth is the individuals that dont work hard (not all) are the unionized businesses and industries. I've worked both, and I can tell you the union clowns slack off while the non-union guys work harder because they know they can be booted at any time.

I dont think it has much to do with race but rather the type of protection you have as an employee.

I like to work hard, it makes time pass quickly and you look better at the end of the day because you have a lot to show for it. Plus good work ethic is self fulfilling.

We've been told that a million times .. by liberals with a political power-grab agenda.

The truth is that illegal immigrants will do the jobs American citizens decline because the job is offerred only at third-world country level wage-slave wages which won't support the comparatively high standard of living American citizens and legal immigrants have worked so hard to achieve.

If the Hispanics are illegal and they likely come from impoverished third-world countries, then they will take these jobs at third-world country level wage-slave wages in deplorable working conditions.

It's somewhat about economies of scale.

And it's greatly about unethical and illegal behavior of companies that hire illegals, illegals themselves, and a really, really terrible attitude in America that we need wage-slaves in deplorable working conditions to maintain our comparatively high standard of living.

I've been a Teamster for 29 years, before that I owned my own catering business. Everyone where I work is union, until very recently, we were the highest paid in the corp., most plants were not union. We WERE the most efficient, with the highest unit per man, lowest cost per unit. It took 10 years, several changes in upper management, but they finally made us just a little better than ave. while shooting their stock price from 54 to 9. My only hope is that I am able to retire before the mindboggling idiots find a way to put us out of business. Incidentally, all of the upper management gave generously to the GOP. And the worst workers at my plant? Those are the ones who call into work to go to Harvest Crusades, use every Union right to get out of work then badmouth the Union every election time because the Union supports Obama.

Maybe is we stooped paying unemployment and welfare to those who are unemployed there would be no job Americans wont do.
Sounds like a win win plan to me.

So you can give your heart to Jesus, but your ass belongs to the Corps! Do you ladies understand?"

I don't think an able bodied person can draw welfare, just because they are too lazy to work.

Sure, we could stop paying unemployment, but when there are more unemployed folks than jobs to be filled, that seems rather drastic. Bring back those offshored jobs and see how that effects the unemployment rate!

For those that insist there are jobs Americans won't do, I invite you to watch a few of the Dirty Jobs on cable. I see Americans working disgusting jobs each time I view that show. Which leads me to believe this hype about us not willing to work those jobs is a crock of shit. Invented to justify hiring illegals at a lower wage.

The working folks of this Nation have been hit with a double whammy. Offshoring and illegals working. Then some try to make it the fault of the working Americans. Dishonest and cruel. Sound like something some Repub would invent.

It sounds like what you're saying is that as soon as the upper management got GOP-ized, they drove the workers into unionizing which brought in the usual dregs.

In other words, its GOP-mentality management that brings in the sub-par union workers, not the other way around.

That actually might be true, its an interesting perspective.

The thing that gets me about the illegal immigrants is that many of them must pay several thousand dollars to hire a guy to bring them into America.

That's like five years worth of salary in Mexico at least.

If they can get that much money why do they need to come here for a better life?
