Isn't that the whole point the Democrats are trying to make? There are problems, serious problems. Republicans are screeching about the problems, saying no to every solution offered, and yet when asked for their own solutions, all they have for answers are jokes.

How about getting involved with the process instead of standing on the sidelines hollering Boo?

As MHP said, you guys had your chance and what did we get? 2 wars, a terrorist on the loose, a run-away drug costs program for Pharma, a huge debt, and losing jobs at the rate of 800,000 lost jobs per month.

And you are asking we give the keys back to you? Have you no shame?

Now we've got three wars, all kinds of terrorists on the loose (there was never just one), a medical bill shoved down our throats that's being challenged on Constitutional grounds in half the states in the union and which nobody really wants, a MUCH bigger debt, the possibility of defaulting on our credit, the dollar in freefall, bailouts for BIG finance and the little guy getting forclosed on at unprecedented rates...

Why would anyone want you to have the keys either?

And understand that I'm not taking sides and cheerleading.

Plenty do that from the right, you and plenty others, do it from the left.

My point is that you're all ate up.

Do your home work on national debt before you start sqawking about that. Democrats took control of the house and senate during the time of the first Bush Bailout and all the Obama bailouts. Had they been responsible they could have stopped any one of those. Increasing your debt by vast amounts doesn't get you out of debt. It doesn't work in your own home and it doesn't work in government either. "Spend your way out" is the most ludicrous contradictory term I have ever heard of in all my life and I am stunned that so many people believe that its true. I agree on the 2 wars part, which was heavily supported by democrats when the 1st one started. Do you have a time frame on the 800,000 jobs per month, like how many months did we lose 800,000 per month? With that being said, solutions need to be viable ones, not make a bad situation 10x worse. Also just to be clear, I may have some conservative beliefs or ideas but I'm not a republican. I guess you could say I'm more republicanish than democratish. I just try to be fair.

I'd like to think of this as an argument that both left and right would want resolved. Also at reasonable cost to the taxpayer (consider me left leaning). Something I don't think either party in our government wants resolved.

One reason I asked Pirate for a poll ... was to kind determine what issues, we the debaters have consensus on.

I think it reasonable that if we as debaters, could not form a consensus opinion, with concession, how could we expect government to do the same?

    Its really quite simple.

First, a wall and shoot (at first then simply shoot. with plenty of written and verbal warnings) those trying to illegally cross. 2nd a decent work visa program. 3rd crack down hard on businesses that hire illegals. 4th round up all the illegals you can find and deport the shit out of them.
Ive no problem with people coming here to work. Thats what number 2 is for. The rest can fuck off.

I've heard some lovely tales about illegals all just wanting to breathe free and love america. Let me tell you a story that happened recently in my hometown of Pearland Tx. heres a link ICE Investigating Pearland Teen Murder Suspect
yes its fox but dude i lived in this town. This shit DID happen.
The murderer is an illegal, who has had several previous run ins with law enforcement. He couldve been ICEd at anytime but wasn't. Then look what happened.

I would like to prevent such things with commonsense measures. I don't think that's draconian or too much to ask.
If a nation cannot control its border it's not a nation at all. We need to control our border, and we need to come up with a working work visa program. We also need to dump the illegals we've got, sorry. EWI is a felony and should be punished. No amnesty. No free citizenship. Fuck that. Other people have to work for it, so why shouldn't they?
The only fair solution is increased security, increased deportation initiatives, a sensible work visa program and cracking down on businesses who hire illegals.

aaaarrrggghhhh!!! Shoot 12 million people. This is given as a real solution. Not as a joke, but as a serious solution. American authorities hunting down and killing 12 million men, women and children.

What part of America are you people from!?!?!

Pschaw... you wouldn't neet to shoot all 12 million. After a few hundred the rest would get the message. It's not radically different from our other authoritarian policies. I'd bet there's a lot more than 12 million people that don't want to be forced into virtual enslavement to the insurance companies, but despite their tough talk, they'll fall in line after we send a few hundred of them to jail.

People need to be told how to live. If you have to bash a few heads to get the point across, well, I guess that's the way it is.

But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort." -- Robert E. Heinlein

So you would agree that killing a few hundred women and children for alleged misdemeanors is an American value you endorse!?!

Tijuana Valley Live-Fire Aerial Ordinance and Artillery Range.

Twenty-five (25) mile wide annexed strip (on the Mexican side) along the whole length of the border. Three (3) strand of barbed-wire (posted) and a patrol road on either side.

    Anything w/ a thermal or seismic signature bigger'n a jack-rabbit...? ...gets targeted.

Do the whole thing for under a $Billion... and the trigger-time for our troops will off-set the cost as a trainin' expense.

    Done.

    ahoy Dick Martin,

worry not, me friend...Dblack be jestin' with ye.

he stated his views on this matter earlier in this long thread, as he be essentially fer a border that processes immigrants with a degree 'o alacrity.

he has not supported this Berlin Wall style solution that many hath advocated.

    ahoy Garandimal,

thar be a problem with this solution, at least thar be at the moment. the penalty fer illegal immigration be voluntary deportation. thats it, i think.

    'tis not execution.

we have capital punishment fer things like 1st degree murder.

Walkin' onto a busy interstate isn't murder... it's suicide.

Same w/ walkin' into a Military Live-Fire Range.
