Do the whole thing for under a $Billion... and the trigger-time for our troops will off-set the cost as a trainin' expense.

    Done.
    LOL

Or just tow a battery of M777's out to the border and have them littler it with M483A1 DPICM loaded with mobility denial subs.

As effective as that would be...

...it could be misconstrued as "boobytrapping", ...which is a Felony and a danger to our People as well.

Releasing sheep (not Liberals, well maybe), goats, and hogs (includin' Mikey Moore) into a Live-Fire Range as thermal and seismic targets would be excellent and inexpensive practice.

So, stay out of the Range...

if ye could, try'n keep other tangential matters out 'o this thread fer a while....things like "crackin' down on corporations who hire illegal aliens", "legalizing drugs" and "overturnin' nafta".

if ye care to post yer suggestions, i'd also like to know how such a project would be funded.

    aye?

I'm not sure that you think border policy is important. Is it your position that anybody at any time can come into this country? Should there there be no rules about who can get in and who cannot? Do you not think this is important?

    ahoy CharlesDavenport,

i think our border policies be important.

i do not think that just anybody should be able to enter our just and christian country, fer example, i'd like them with criminal records to be kept out.

i think thar should be some kinda protocol that immigrants must go through to come aboard our vessel.

regardin' our borders and immigration issues, i kinda be leanin' towards the libertarian point 'o view.

Uh, I thought we already had that protocol MHP. Folks pay no mind to it, and come in as they will.

Perhaps one day mankind will hold pinky fingers and sing Kumbaya, but we are hundreds of years away from that, if it ever happens at all. Until that time, we need to consider what illegal immigration does to citizens, while also giving consideration to how the Islama terror boys get in over the southern border. National security and border control go hand in hand.

Any nation should control its borders and control immigration. That is not a novel idea at all. If it takes a wall to help out, then so be it. But the wall will not solve the problem by itself.

We should do whatever it takes, to solve the problem. And it is a problem.

NOPE. As long as business will hire the illegals to fatten up bottom lines. they ain't going anywhere. The carrot has to be killed, so as not to entice those folks to come here illegally. When you are dirt poor and going hungry, our immigation laws are a joke to the hungry. Our businessmen hire them, and that should be a crime with a mandatory 10 years if you get caught. If we really wanted to stop this mess, it ain't rocket science. But you might hurt our very sacred business interests! And these days, business rules, literally. A govt by and for business. Fuck the People. The Pub's motto.

I was being a lil sarcastic Doggy, implying the consequences of the action would create anarchy, and nobody's jumping a fence for that.

If things continue to escalate ... middle east protests, protests in Spain, attacking voter rights, pressing wages, anarchy will get here to the US. For a short time here will be no need for a fence.

True. 75 million of the 12 million will return to Mexico fairly quickly.

I still for see the day we will want that border open, so we can find work in Mexico. Will having a fence allow us to go the other way illegally?

I like having images in my mind of where I want to end up, and then take steps to get there. I like the way the Canada/USA border works. Europe is going in that direction too, and the whole world is toying with loosening their borders. For all of us to want a USA/Mexico border like the USA/Canada border is not a bad thing. That really is the end game for all of us.

Therefore, to me, any action that goes away from our end goal is a wasted effort, leading to double work to get where we want to go. A fence, as imagined, with machine guns, alligators, moats, minefields, and attack dogs is 180 degrees from where we want to go, so why go there? What possible win is there?
